SAN ANTONIO A Medal of Honor recipient has dropped a lawsuit against his former employer in which he accused the defense contractor of ruining his chances of landing work at another company by claiming he was mentally unstable and a problem drinker.
Marine Sgt. Dakota Meyer said in a statement to The Associated Press on Thursday that he is dropping the defamation against BAE Systems OASYS and a former supervisor, Bobby McCreight, because they settled their differences amicably.
The company says it is pleased the matter is resolved. No terms were disclosed.
Meyer filed the lawsuit in San Antonio last month alleging the company undermined him after he expressed disapproval that it had pursued selling certain weapon components to Pakistan. Meyer received the Medal of Honor for his actions during a 2009 battle in Afghanistan.
Jean Meyer, the Marine's 81-year-old grandmother, told FoxNews.com last month that allegations regarding her grandson were unfounded.
"I've known him for all of his life and I've never, ever known him to be a drinker," she said. "That's all I can tell you."
Meyer, of Green County, Kentucky, said she helped raise the veteran along with his father, Michael.
"That boy has never done anything that we had to get on him about or punish him for -- nothing," she said. "You couldn't have asked for a better boy growing up and he still is. He would do anything in the world for anybody."
Meyer was employed as a construction worker in Kentucky when he was awarded the Medal of Honor. In September 2009, a then-21-year-old Meyer defied orders by charging five times in a Humvee into heavy gunfire and provided cover for his team, allowing many to escape likely death. He killed at least eight Taliban insurgents.

BTTT!
Had to!! They would have to be crazy to go before a Jury against a Medal of Honor Recipient.
Sounds like a good man who is also a hero. Don’t know what or how much he got, but he deserves it all. He risked it all, apparently many times.
Love it!!!
Bet he got some MAJOR bank and a substantial butt kissing.
G-d bless our standing American military and our veterans!

Hmmm, not necessarily. Yahoo just published a “hit” piece on Meyer by McClatchy Newspapers this morning. I suspect BAE used their contacts in the MSM and gubmint to further attempt to disparge his character with this new “article”. Perhaps that’s why he settled his lawsuit today.
To it’s credit, the USMC is standing by Meyer and stated unequivically that the “reporter” is basically full of sh!t and insists that the Medal of Honor was indeed justified.

(Note: The MSM won’t publish anything that could possibly be construed as negative about Obama (a coward, a closet-homosexual, a cocaine addict, and a fraud), but they go balls to the wall to smear a genuine USMC hero.)
Lord Almighty, our nation is truly going to hell.
A simple matter of commonsense and decency, not withstanding the right to publish and broadcast, could have been observed. To whit - the old British Army order.
"Keep yer bloody mouths shut".
No one is saying he did not deserve some recognition for what he did. perhaps he did not deserve the MOH but certainly a navy Cross.or maybe he did earn the MOH. We may never know what really happened
If the newest news is true the Marines and the WH embellished what he did. Too bad becasue what he did was brave on its own
HOWEVER
what he did in iraq ( or Afg? ) has no bearing on what kind of employee he was.
Why would we believe this former Marine over another former Marine who was also pretty highly decorated?
Bless anyone who serves our country in war. What they do in their civilian jobs is a different matter.
It's OK, Sgt. Meyer, we know BAE is a bunch of little bitches. You don't have to say it.
