Reid Statement On End Of Iraq War
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ^ | December 16, 2011 | Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 12/16/2011 12:17:50 PM PST by mdittmar

Washington, D.C.Nevada Senator Harry Reid today issued the following statement observing the end of the Iraq War:

“The end of the Iraq War marks a historic day in our country. I commend President Obama for keeping his promise to remove all American troops from Iraq by the end of this year. After nine years of conflict, this is the right decision at the right time.

“Our experience in Iraq has left us humbled by the strategic miscalculations that made the war more difficult and costly than necessary, but also proud of the overwhelming valor and courage displayed by the hundreds of thousands of American service members who risked their lives to give Iraqis the opportunity to govern themselves.  There is no question that the Iraq we leave today will face tremendous challenges as it strives to stand on its own. However, I am confident that the policies President Obama has pursued in Iraq will position the United States to effectively guard our security interests in the region, and to continue our support of Iraq’s own development.

“As our troops return home to their loved ones, we remember the nearly 4,500 Americans who lost their lives, the tens of thousands more who were wounded, and all those who served in Iraq. I’m particularly proud of the 36 Nevadans who made the ultimate sacrifice and the 138 Nevadans who were wounded while serving their state and their country. It’s our continuing duty to recognize their service, honor their memories, and support their families.”

“Remember when Pinky said the war was lost?”

When did he say the war was lost? HE SAID IT WHEN THE TROOPS WERE FIGHTING AND DYING ON THE BATTLEFIELD.

Nicely done!

I would not expect demented, hate-filled Harriet to get this, or anything else, correct.

Obama never closed quantanamo, never got out the troops immediately....Those were his promises....

This 2011 was Bush's agreement and Obama had "O" to do with it. It would have happened with any President...unless there was anew agreement.

Psst...there's still about 20,000 folks left there....a paid by USA security force.

Of course the Iraq war was a strategic miscalculation, but if Senator Reid is so wise, why didn't he try to stop it in 2003. He voted to authorize President Bush to take the action!

Hey Harry, I still have not been to Vegas just because of you!

As long as the Vegas unions keep voting your sorry rear into office, my vacation money will go else where.

Harry believes the only things worth fighting for are the citizen’s increased dependence on government and the undermining of the Bill of Rights.

Harry Reid is a despicable piece of crap.

His belated attempt to claim satisfaction for victory in a war that his President stridently opposed and that he himself once declared "lost" - even while our troops were engaged in battle - is evidence not only of Reid's own malign character, but of the dishonesty and moral rot at the core of his party.
