just wanted to point out that Karenga was one of the targets of the COINTELPRO program; not saying that makes Kwanzaa cool (it doesn’t) and not saying it means he’s innocent (it doesn’t), but it does mean you got to approach the normally trusted source of information (like newspapers) with a little more distrust than usual...

...in that excerpt they say that he was exhibiting the signs of a paranoid schizophrenic, but it’s like that corny joke, “he’s not paranoid, they really were out to get him.”

i’m no conspiracy nut; this program has been an acknowledged and confirmed part of the FBI’s history; check out the wikipedia page if you’re interested; just one of the “what the hell were we thinking?” things.

but it definitely makes you wonder about what all went down around this time.
