On the eve of his first official overseas trip since being diagnosed with cancer, Hugo Chávez has launched a blistering attack on Barack Obama, describing the US president as a "clown" and an "embarrassment".
"Focus on governing your country, which you've turned into a disaster," the Venezuelan president told state TV on Monday. Chávez touched down in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo, on Tuesday for a summit of Mercosur, South America's leading trade bloc.
Chávez's comments followed a rare and strongly worded interview with Obama published by the Caracas-based El Universal newspaper. The American president criticised Venezuela's business and political links with Iran and Cuba, and raised concerns at what he called threats to the country's democracy.

Ouch. That’s gonna leave a mark.
Boy, that’s gotta hurt!
Even a stopped clock...
...which one?
My oh my.
What a fun read for a Tuesday morning!
Takes one to know one.
Agreeing with this clown is usually not a good thing. However as one clown to another it takes one to know one.
pot calling kettle black, oops hope that’s not racist. /s
Although he is right he still has to deal with that whole kettle/pot thing.
I think it is better to describe him as a Marxist and profoundly evil. Marxism destroys all human dignity and freedom—esp. freedom of the mind. Makes the masses slaves and elevates his favored few as masters. I never think of him as a clown—and he is not an embarrassment to Marxist ideology—he emanates the putrid narcissistic attitude.
I’m sure Obama is deeply saddened by this... to the point where he needs to rush over to Chavez, bow to him and beg him to accept America’s apology for... um... whatever Chavez wants an apology for today.
I hope this turns into a Marxist-on-Marxist catfight.
When I read that Obama called himself the 4th best president ever last week, the list that popped to my mind was
1. Kim Jong-il
2. Hugo Chávez
3. Fidel Castro
4. Barack Obama
Now one has died and another called Obama a clown. If I hadn’t read the rest of what Obama said, and who the 3 ahead of him were I’d expect him to move himself up to the 2 spot now.
Hugo’s on to something...
Now that is very mean. Obama is more like Hugo than we know. What a sad commentary by Hugo on our Beloved Obummer..
I agree. Clowns are supposed to make you laugh. Embarrassment yes. Clown no.
Pot and skillet, two peas in the same pod, both come to mind here.
I’m going to be upset all week for having to agree with ANYTHING Chavez says.
