FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) --

The prosecution has completed laying out its case against an Army intelligence analyst blamed for the biggest leak of U.S. classified information in American history.

The government on Tuesday called a former hacker to testify. He told the military court that the depth of Pfc. Bradley Manning's confession in Internet chats compelled him to alert authorities.

Shortly after Adrian Lamo's testimony, the government rested its case.

Manning is accused of providing a massive trove of U.S. secrets to the WikiLeaks website.

The hearing is to determine whether the 24-year-old from Oklahoma should be court-martialed.

The hearing has been recessed until Wednesday when the defense will get its turn.

If the evidence holds up, I hope the proverbial book is thrown at him.

However, Manning is not the only one culpable for the breach of security: whatever idiots arrange the handling of classified information so that an Army private could access classified diplomatic cables deserves to be cashiered.

OTOH, I don’t want Assange to be extradited to the U.S. The precedent that a country can apply its laws to a person who is not a citizen of that country for acts committed outside the territory of the country (a) represents colossal arrogance and a denial of the sovereignty of every other nation on the planet and (b) would come back to bite us when the ChiComs or Iranians or some other unsavory lot apply it to Americans.

Was he drafted into the Army? Oh.....he was a volunteer. Did he ask for the intel job? He did? Damn. You give a guy what he asks for and he turns on his country. Ungrateful, traitorous little turd. Hey, folks, he was a traitor to you, not just the military. He violated his oath that he took to you. He would have sold your children into slavery and given away your freedom and other rights with no concern for you. He didn’t care about anybody but himself.
