Romney Takes Biggest Lead Yet Against Obama in National POll
New York Post ^ | December 29, 2011 | SA Miller

GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has rocketed ahead of President Obama and taken his biggest lead yet in a national head-to-head matchup, a new poll showed today.

Romney topped Obama 45 percent to 39 percent in the Rasmussen Reports survey.

“It’s also the biggest lead a named Republican candidate has held over the incumbent in Rasmussen Reports surveying to date,” said the pollsters.

Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney greets supporters at J's Homestyle Cooking in Cedar Falls, Iowa Thursday.

A week ago, Romney trailed Obama 44 percent to 41 percent and the week before that held a thin 43 percent to 42 percent edge over the president in Rasmussen polls.

Obama’s 39 percent share of the vote in today’s poll also represents a new low for the president, whose support previously ranged from 40 percent to 46 percent in matchups with Romney.

Obama leads all the other named GOP candidates by as little as seven and as much as 15 percentage points. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Texas Governor Rick Perry and businessman Herman Cain have all surged ahead of the president at one point but did not maintain those leads.

Cain dropped out of the GOP contest after a series of allegations that he sexually harassed women when he ran the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s and was alleged to have had a longtime extramarital affair.

Romney is only slightly less odious than the Kenyan Kommunist. Anyway, these numbers will be bouncing up, down, around and every which way until it counts.

The only thing worse than watching Obama socialize this country will be Romney doing the same thing...except this time under the banner of the GOP and “conservatism”.

No way will I support Romney.

Whose fault is that? Conservatives have been played. Every time somebody seemed to rise, they got crushed by the old media & the GOP establishment, and conservatives fell for it.

Buy lead.

And if they're not crushed enough, the conservatives themselves will grind them into the ground.

This article sure does seem like part of a rope-a-dope strategy.

It’s amazing the lengths that the media will go to ensure that Zero gets to run against Mittens. No attacks...nothing. I am certain they are keeping their powder dry.

I’d wish Romney could just strap his dog to the roof, re-register as a Dem, and run against his buddy Obama in the primary. He might actually be able to win that way.

Romney is not going to able to distinguish his stances from Zero’s in the general election. Arguing the nit picky differences between Romneycare and Obamacare isn’t going to cut it. The only other distinguisher is that Romney defines the rich at $200k, while Zero defines it at $250k. Maybe they could debate about that.

I just finished Chernow’s bio on Hamilton - a great read and amazing work. He included that quote and it struck me as the situation we are in today with Obama vs. RINOmney.

Wow!!! We need to stop this Primary Process right now and declare Mitt Romney the GOP nominee for President of the United States.

(Do I need the sarc. tag?)

Since Cain flamed out, I’m back with Mitt. He is far better than any of you give him credit. He is the strongest horse we have in the race. I like Santorium and Bachmann, but they won’t hold the independents. He wears a heck of allot better than Newt. Mitt’s the guy.

HOLD IT! HOLD IT! HOLD IT! Let’s be honest. Conservatives are great at eating their own. It’s not just the GOP Elitists or the media who are destroying the Conservatives. Just check out the mean-spirited venom that is spewed here on FRee Republic, for example. We, in trying to “Out Conservative” each other, kill off each other and the RINO gets the nomination because he’s the only one left standing. Republicans are the only soldiers who shoot their own wounded.
