I saw him as a commentator on television many times. He was excellent. This is truly a sad loss. He worked under Newt Gingrich for many years and wrote these recent endorsements of Newt for president:

BLANKLEY: Newt’s past and future leadership:

Tony Blankley: Gingrich would be the most conservative president since Reagan:

What an appropriate question as a book title in this Year 2012--a year which may determine the future of a nation, whose documents of liberty were formed by remarkable men whose core beliefs about the Source of life, liberty and rights allowed many generations to enjoy the "pursuit of happiness" for over 200 years.

Blankley understood that "other" ideas threaten future generations, and their ability to enjoy the "Blessings of Liberty" to which they were entitled by their Constitution.

Sadly, the so-called "progressives," in their arrogance and thirst for power, have censured the founding ideas from textbooks in order to replace the concept of people-over-government with a counterfeit government-over-people idea which will assure tyranny and oppression for future citizens.

RIP. I am sorry. I saw him on tv recently and did not recognize him, he had lost so much weight.

Oh no, am really sorry to hear this. I have wondered off and on about his absence from the political scene over the past year or so. I always enjoyed his commentary on the McLaughlin Group. He was a one-of-a-kind, thoughtful deep thinker with firm conservative American principles.

Rest in peace, Tony, and thank you for all you did for America. May the Lord comfort your loved ones.

Darn shame. I was wondering why I hadn’t read anything from him recently or seen him on TV. I met him when I interned in DC and he seemed like a nice guy. RIP

So sad to hear that. I will miss Tony Blankley’s clear thinking and his cutting through the clutter right to the key underlying dynamics, points and principles. I always sought out his columns because I would almost always come away with clearer insight into the issue at hand.

I have The West's Last Chance: Will We Win the Clash of Civilizations?

His endorsement of Newt Gingrich is recognition that there's one chance to reverse the tide.

God rest his soul, and Bless his family. I knew he’d lost a LOT of weight the last time I’d seen him on TV, but I didn’t realize it was because of illness. 63 is WAY too young to go!

RIP Tony...

I thought he may have had Gastro surgery or plastic surgery the last time I saw him on TV, I didn't know it was Illness...

No one mentioned this:

"from 1990 to 1997 he served as press secretary and general adviser to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich"

Got to see him on CSPAN once where he noted he thought Newt was ADD....

I had no idea Tony Blankley was ill. He recently spoke out on behalf of his former boss, Speaker Gingrich, with no references to his illness by him or those interviewing him.

Tony Blankley always appeared a thoroughly decent guy. May his soul rest in peace, and his family find comfort.
