To be sure, the Israelis are not as pure as the driven snow. They grudgingly tolerate Christians but wish they were not there. Many of the orthodox Jews are actively hostile to Christians.

That's true, especially because most of the Christians are ethnic Arabs. The Christian Arabs that I know, so-called “Palestinians,” who live in Bethlehem, despise Israel. Of course if they were living under Islam things would only be worse for them, but there's no love lost there.
