Rep. West wishes he was the number one target for the Democratic Party. Quite frankly, he isn’t that important and far less influential than he likes to think. And of course, it is about the 1 percent and the 99 percent – thanks to policies supported by West’s own party.
But what’s important here is the continuing message of disenfranchisement, a card played more and more often by Republicans, who have gone far beyond normative politics to an area that lays claim to the idea that only one party (the Republican) is actually legitimate and that government by the other party must, of necessity, therefore be an unlawful usurpation.
West hates Democrats and everything they stand for. That’s obvious. You’ll no doubt remember when he compared the messaging of the Democratic Party, in the words of the Miami Herald “to that of Hitler’s propaganda machine.”
