Gingrich: Goal is to get to Super Tuesday
By Erik Wasson - 02/05/12 11:05 AM ET

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said Sunday that following his loss in the Nevada caucuses to Mitt Romney this weekend, his campaign is betting on the March 6 Super Tuesday primaries.

“Our goal is to get to Super Tuesday where we are in much more favorable territory,” Gingrich said on NBC's Meet the Press.

He said prospects look good in Georgia and Tennessee on that day as well as for Alabama on March 13 and Texas on April 3.

“By the time Texas is over, we will be very, very competitive in delegate count,” he predicted.

Gingrich's focus on Southern states stems from his success in South Carolina where he powered to victory thanks to the support of voters looking for a more conservative alternative to Romney.

Ten states hold primaries or caucuses on Super Tuesday and a total of 437 total delegates are up for grabs. They are Alaska (27), Georgia (76), Idaho (32), Massachusetts (41), North Dakota (28), Ohio (66), Oklahoma (43), Tennessee (58), Vermont (17), and Virginia (49).

But before Super Tuesday, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Maine, Arizona, Michigan and Washington all hold primaries or caucuses. Winning all of those could give Romney serious momentum.

Gingrich refused to say whether he has lost personal respect for Romney due to the negative attacks the former Massachusetts governor unleashed in order to win big in Florida and Nevada.

“That is basically an irrelevant question,” he said. “Gov. Romney is running a campaign that he, he thinks is right for him. I don't happen to think it is a very good thing to do.”

Gingrich pressed his own attack, saying Romney's comment that he was "not concerned about the very poor" reflects the fact that Gingrich has better proposals for the poor, including school choice for public school students and refusing to increase the minimum wage with inflation, something Gingrich said will increase unemployment.

He said Romney is “pro-abortion, pro-gun-control, pro-tax-increase.”

Gingrich also defended his proposal to have a lunar colony as serious and noted his proposal does not involve massive government spending.

“This was not some slip,” he said.

Gingrich said that even if unemployment continues to fall, President Obama will have difficulty in getting reelected. He noted high gas prices and deficit spending as being problems for the president even if unemployment falls dramatically.

Heard on some radio station that Newt is not on ONE Super Tuesday ballot. Dunno.

Just hope he takes a turn and goes positive ...all the way. Just EDUCATE us, Newt ..it’s what you do best at.

I really do want to hear Newt’s take on exactly how bad things are — and what our future holds if we allow the status quo to continue. That’s it. That’s all I want to hear.

I KNOW he will be under attack — but if he tells the truth, I believe voters will CRANE THEIR NECKS to listen to him, over the din of negative ads.

He’s not on the ballot on two different states.

Newt talked about a “prize” in regard to the space program. That’s what they did 200 years ago. Read “Longitude” by David Sobel.

The media is soooooo negative on Newt...you’d think they were on Obama’s payroll AND Mitt’s payroll.

If they actually said that they are just using one of Alinsky’s rules for radicals.

See:
HAVE YOU USED A RULE fOR RADICALS TODAY?

Here it is, the liberals guide for political warfare as developed by Saul Alinsky. Read them , learn them and apply them daily. Beat the socialist with their own game!

RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources - money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood. (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)

RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone. (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)

RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)

RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules. (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist. (Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)

RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)

RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

In Arizona, a mormon ran against Janet Napalitano for governor and lost pretty badly.

Yes, Red on the frathon thread posted a quote from Newsmax typing him in and pictures of Willard’s dad with ol Sal himself.

If you see anyone using a step call the quote out with “Alinsky Step #_____”. Also could be done on sites other than FR in comment sections.

Newt and Sarah have brought attention to Alinsky for a reason. The MSM has only done a Wikipedia type of exposure and very brief at that IMO it will be up to We the People to expose what WmR is doing.

That would be MO, but it doesn’t award delegates anyway. That is done
later in a caucus. The state run media likes to leave that fact out.

FYI Hillary wrote her thesis on Alinsky. Was not only a follower, but he even wanted her to take over his movement

BO taught Alinsky’s methods in what he now says were classes on the Constitution. He used the steps in his job as CO.

Speaking of Hillary, it just dawned on me that she may/could be coaching Mitt. Take Obama out, then she would be eligible for 2016. She sure don't want Newt, as he would be in for 8years.

I think a highly organized scheme is being played out before our eyes, with the Democrats obliging and co-operating with the GOTe's., anyway possible to take Obama out at the same time, put in Obama Lite, make way for Hillary.

They don’t even need to cooperate. They are both using the same play book. Alinsky was a communist who dedicated the book RULES FOR RADICAL to Lucifer.

Bishop Romney is no more a holy man then the child molester, Jeffers who’s serving life.

“In the wake of the devastating Detroit riots of the summer of 1967, Michigan Gov. George Romney, a liberal Republican, met the radical organizer Saul Alinsky to discuss the grievances of the urban black poor,” he explained.

Photos of the meeting can be found in the archives of the Library of Congress.

Kaczynski noted that a book on George Romney quotes the former Michigan governor telling his allies, “I think you ought to listen to Alinsky.”

Political analyst and think-tank researcher Steve Baldwin believes that Mitt Romney was definitely impacted by his father’s association with Alinsky.
