Ask Americans who the "enemy" is, and they might say Iran, or they might worry about communist China. But typically, liberals see the enemy in America. Congressman Bennie Thompson, Democrat of Mississippi, told the Communications Workers of America on February 1 they should watch the enemy in action (for 30 seconds) on Fox News Channel. (Well, he said "Fox TV," as if he doesn't know the difference with the Family Guy Network.)

"Every now and then, you have to look at the enemy. And I say just turn over and switch to Fox TV for 30 seconds, see what the enemy is doing, and switch right back. Because then you understand what the enemy is all about. They’re absolutely against working men and women, so we have work to do." (Video below, via The Right Scoop)

The Communications Workers of America includes under its umbrella The Newspaper Guild, so think of this as the liberal media demonizing the conservative media. The CWA website included a warm article on Vice President Biden appearing on February 2: "Shortly before Biden’s speech, the CWA Executive Board announced it was endorsing Obama-Biden for re-election after soliciting input from members online for nearly two months. TNG-CWA President Bernie Lunzer abstained from the vote, standard practice for the Guild with regard to political endorsements."

Fox News aside, liberals view their domestic political opponents as their enemy before they’ll consider any foreign power or terrorist an enemy. They dont feel terrorists or foreign military powers threaten their grip on power.

Ironic. In China or Iran, he would have his house razed, himself and family slaughtered, his stock poisened, and land salted. Here in America, he can run, and be elected to a government post, to decree laws, and spout about the “enemy”.

We make a big mistake when we think the left views us the same as we view them - as simply misguided or miseducated.

They view us from the communist viewpoint. We’re “infected” or “polluted” with bourgeois (conservative) values and the only cure is extermination.

They see their “road to utopia” plowed through the dead bodies of those who can’t think like a communist.

Thompson's voting record has been decidedly liberal; he is arguably one of the most liberal congressmen ever to represent Mississippi. He is a founding member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. His legislative platform focuses mainly on homeland security, civil rights, agriculture and rural issues, equal education and health care reform. In 1975, he became one of the original plaintiffs in the Ayers Case, which concerned the adequate funding of predominantly black educational institutes in Mississippi. In 2000, Thompson wrote legislation that created the National Center for Minority Health and Health Care Disparities.
