Hit Obamanomics
Charleston (WV) Daily Mail ^ | February 16, 2012 | Don Surber

Some advice to conservatives: Quit being dragged off into side issues. Enough with the social issues already. That just alienates people in the middle and makes it seem as if that is the sole reason conservatives want to defeat Obama this fall.

It’s the economy, stupid.

Liberals have lured conservatives off the bridge that they were crossing. This is what trolls do. Liberals are laying traps that conservatives are not just falling in but leaping into the trap. The whole contraceptive flapdoodle is an excellent example of trolling. Well played, Mister President.

Conservatives need to get their act together.

President Obama just proposed his fourth consecutive $1.3 trillion-deficit and instead of blasting the crap out of him, conservatives are re-debating Griswold versus Connecticut from 1965.

Small wonder independents think conservatives are a bunch of fruitcakes who have never had sex.

This is not quantum physics.

...Enough with the social issues already....

So, we should just accept the pro abortion and pro homosexual agendas, Mustang Driver?

I think not.

We should emphasize the economy. We should focus on jobs. And we should do as fiscal conservatives who see economic matters as moral matters.

Approach the economy as a moral issue, and if the media or the Left tries to "divert" us with social issues, we can hit that topic as a continuation of our moral/economic concern and move the social discussion back to an economic discussion.

There really is no such thing as an "economic" issue. There are only moral issues. If we play it right, the public will see both sides in our favor.

This guy must be monitoring Free Republic!

In 6 lines he sums up why Obama may well be President for another 4 years.

Keep your advice because we are not being dragged off into side issues.

There are many issues and we can both walk and chew gum at the same time.

It's both the economy as well as the Constitution and obummer's many violations.

it is not about condoms or birth control pills, it's about the violation of the First Amendment.

That is not a side issue, it is just another example of why we need to make obummer a one term pResident.

Actually, if you read the entire article , that's not what it says. It says the way to win these battles is to defeat Obama in 2012, and the way to do that is to focus on the economy and national debt and Obama’s obliteration of our military. I am worried that Santorum is not capable of doing this.

Well said! Economic and moral issues are intertwined. Actions have consequences, oftentimes MORAL ones at that.

[ it is not about condoms or birth control pills, it’s about the violation of the First Amendment ]

We know that, but that is not the way the state run media is framing the issue. Unfortunately, that is where most voters and especially swing voters, get their information.

The way to beat Obama is just to beat the crap out of him everyday on each and every issue. Scrap like a street fighter whose very survival depends on striking the next blow. Use whatever is available. Be mean, be aggressive, be unrelenting.

Come at Obama from every angle and at all times and with every weapon at your disposal. Make it a spectacle for all to witness. Slice and dice, and cast the pieces to the wind. Beat him like a pinata everyday - in each and every way.

Then go after his corrupt cronies and social misfit associates. Beat the crap out of these commie crooks with whatever corruption and humilition you can uncover. Have some fun with it.

Beat up Obama and everybody in his crooked administration until the MSM and the DemonRat Party are sick and tired of hearing about it. Then beat it some more. Beat it until the average American finally awakens from his slumber. Then keep on beating. Keep beating Obama until he thinks his battered head is a bongo drum. Then beat him some more.

The thing we have to do is to learn to have some fun with this!

I agree with the article, inasmuch Obama (with MSM help) has been able to frame the debate over the so-called contraception issue. It’s easier to sell the idea of providing “free” birth control to voters than it is to make an argument about government overreach and impinging on religious liberty. Free stuff is tangible and easy to pitch. Defending intangible, if essential, principles requires thought and doesn’t translate well into a 30-second sound bite.

Now, I don’t think conservatives should abandon the issue. It’s too important *not* to address in some way. I’m just saying that it’s not wise to play the game by the other guy’s rules.

I am not what most would consider a social conserative, but the fact is every winning Republican in my lifetome was solid on the social issues. The ones that were wobbly or moderate lost. The myth that this is somehow a losing issue is ridiculous.

Secondly, the flap over the Obamacare mandate has nothing to do with social issues and in fact is bringing a 2 year old issue back to the forefront...does our government have the right to dictate such things or is Obamacare a disastrous power grab and government overreach.

The sad sack of garbage we have running as the GOP candidates are incapable of attacking obama.

I want to vomit at the thought of Myth, RS, and NG.

I like RP since at least he is consistent on sound economic and monetary policy.

The current crop of front runnders are going to get slaughtered by obama since they are all panzies, fakes, milquetoast country club wimps, etc.

Its pathetic. To beat Obama you need someone who is a bat out of hell on every issue, and sadly, all we have a bunch frauds and hacks.

Agreed.

We should be hearing a specific and solidly articulated attack from EACH one of the candidates - each and every day. As it stands, whichever one of the nimrods that is still standing at the end of this debacle will be too battered and beaten to mount an effective assault on Øbozo.

You may be right. If it turns out the Repub candidate is another McLame type milquetoast, then I suggest WE, the liberty loving American people, become the political aggressors. And we go after all of them. Something like a Tea Party on steroids.

Everyone should read this and remember it. That is 2012 politics—and that is what you must do if you are to have any chance of winning. The stakes (freedom and a hopeful future) are worth it.

I disagree. We should do like Democrats and go stealth on social issues. Once elected, the new president and a Republican Congress can untangle the mess.
