UMass has long had an “I Feel So Good About Myself For Sending Morons and Psychopaths To College!” Program. My first year there, way back in the 60s, we had two of these on our dorm floor. One was a psychopath who threw live cats off the 19th floor balcony to their deaths and liked to set fires in the dorm. The other operated on a junior high school level socially and academically. Both, of course, were gone after the first semester, but the Liberals felt so good about themselves! Today this program has been expanded to a “Doctorate in Social Justice and Victims’ Studies.”

I went to Bowdoin in the '60's. UMass was a joke even then. Not that Bowdoin didn't turn into one, but yeah, the east coast needs a flush with Drano.

Chilling stories from ZooMass.

You’ve nailed the underlying, major, and fatal problem with educational affirmative action. Government regs, social engineering, and liberal guilt can get AA students into an Ivy League (or any college), but it can’t KEEP them there ... unless they’re Teh One, of course.

And of course, the resulting blow to the artificially inflated self-esteem is doubly harsh because they couldn’t cut it in a school they wouldn’t have qualified for in the first place.

(Of course, this does not apply to those students who study, attend class, and take their education seriously.)
