Bill Lockyer (Dem) was the former CA Attorney General who placed a permanent ban on AR-15 & AK-47 type weapons in California. He also banned the SKS with detachable magazines, and mags with over 10 rounds. Numerous other firearms laws unique to California also bear his signature. He failed in attempts to require serial numbers on bullets and other gun-grabber fantasy legislation.

I read the story and I want to know how Lockyer happened to come into possession of the information how to contact the other man’s father. It is a crime to misuse the CLETS system.....which formerly as AG, Lockyer would have had oversight of. If any DOJ Special Agent did a run and passed on the info to Lockyer, they have both committed a crime.

As I recall Lockyer knew he was going to be termed-out of the legislature so while in office he attended a local school for a law degree. This enabled him to qualify for attorney general.

He always seemed an arrogant jerk. If I remember correctly he's one of those liberal jerks who carries a weapon but does not want any citizen to even own a gun.

I recall a letter of his to the editors in the Sacramento Bee where he was commenting on a prior letter and how odd it was for someone from a poor part of the country to have such conservative views.

Lot of arrogance emanating from the Att. Gen. office when that hack got elected -- Lockyer butt up as Michael Savage called him.
