If the average person understands that this "President" (I use that term loosely) wants $5+ per gallon gas, he will lose this election in the biggest landslide of all time.

Your forgetting that almost half of Americans are on the dole or recieve some sort of govt. "benefit"

They will continue to vote for MARXISM and all it's glory.

Going to be great when we lose wars because our tanks, ships and planes ran out of algae.

They'd simply be able to pull up to the nearest swamp to refill...except the EPA will beat them to it and declare the "wetlands" off limits.

As I head out to the gas station this morning I will think about the Limo drivers and all the taxis that will be raising their prices to a public that feels the same pain.

But, the governmental elitists and hollywood don’t think about that because they have plenty of money to afford whatever - their attitude? let them eat cake!

If Obama/Chu were really interested in weaning America off oil, they wouldn't accelerate the greatest transfer of western wealth to the ME for imports - instead of increasing domestic access to drilling and processing capacity and pilfering profits to fund and develop alternate energy sources.

Rather, as with the majority of this administrations decisions, they bow to foreign interests and instead fund & materially/politically support and encourage the resurrection of the Islamic caliphate through oil propheteering. This article first appeared in the British magazine Encounter in July 1979 and remains as relevent today as ever:

J.B. Kelly: Of Valuable Oil & Worthless Policies

Treason by any other name.

Electric cars are not feasible period. Never will be. There isn’t enough algae on earth to produce enough fuel to power every automobile on earth for two hours...

He won his Nobel for algae oil development, so he should fly that 747 with algae over the Grand Canyon.

The people who are hurt the most by the high gas prices are the very ones who CAN’T afford hybrid vehicles.

In other words, the couple who lost their job (and therefore credit) can’t go buy a $30,000 hybrid to get more mpg and STILL are forced to pay $4 a gallon.

Actually, I read this article and thought...

Are they admitting to price manipulation by the regime? Is this why they have not called the oil barons before a congressional investigation? Because they, the regime, is responsible for the price via insider speculation?

What 0bama speculator is running the price up? Who is in that DOE office being paid-off big-time to run up the markets like crazy? They keep trying to blame the ME, but there's always rancor in the ME...the price is not justified. Oh for the days of the journalistic muckrakers!

Chu, like Obama and others of the liberal-socialist-progressive cabal, have already made their decision. Intervening facts be damned. After all, haven't they (Obama and Chu, been rewarded for their superior intellect?

Having made their selection of the “correct’ course of action nothing will change their minds.

I posted several months ago that we needed a Manhattan style approach to the engergy issue. No so much money but the aggressive multi-prong approach exploring multiple tracks to come up the most effective short term solution to the issue. Once the short term solution (probably a very expensive solution) has been achieved the technology can be refined to reduce the costs.

Chu, and by extension Obama and his entire administration, want to develop the technology first then see if it works - see the bio-fuels programs, including algae, that is replacing the all electric program, which replaced .. Well, you get the picture.

Uh, that was called "nuclear power." That and coal and oil and natural gas represent the best and cheapest forms of energy now available.

Actually I agree with you, about the value of a Manhattan Project style program to build an electric charging infrastructure on the interstate highway grid.

The gas companies have a vested interest in not making alternatives to gas available via their existing gas stations. (duh)

Build the infrastructure with government participation, then sell it off to enterpreneurs. But have one out there. Then people who decide to go electric can remove “not being able to charge my car” from the list of decisioning considerations.

Don’t though get people to alternatives by making gas absurdly and deliberately expensive. That is the most damaging way possible, and is arguably sabotage of America.

Provide alternatives which are more attractive. Not making gas more expensive. Be part of the solution.

Liberals seem to always gravitate toward using government as a stick, despite all their claims of “compassion” and “tolerance”. They never do anything compassionately, they do things to punish.

Make a carrot program, lose the stick.

I use recharging/electric small-scale on the weekends.
/full disclosure

America, you got what you voted for!

Amen to that! Say what you will about Chu, but he and Obama have been consistent on this point since long before Day One. America just did not want to listen.
