Late sixties (Viet Nam war era) Russian frogmen made it ashore on the North Oregon Coast. OK allegedly. Witnesses saw multiple dim lights swimming ashore. Coast Guard & military responded. Frogman foot prints in the sand.

The Russian fishing fleet was just offshore.

Probably more of a message than a mission by the Russians.

My source is a fire fighter beach resident.

I heard a similar rumor, that they were trying to retrieve a defector named Sergei Kourdakov, who later wrote the book “The Persecutor”.
