Well, which IS he? Is he white or Hispanic?

Because the Thought Police say there's a difference, you can't be both.

Either sloppy reporting, or a deliberate attempt to make this a racial-hate crime. Because AS WE ALL KNOW, only whites are racists.

Personally, it think the news reporting is, in fact, using "white Hispanic" to push the racism button of black readers. (Because they (blacks) will probably read it as WHITE hispanic.)

However, it should be noted that there are plenty of very dark skinned, African-descended, people who speak Spanish living in Central and South America. (More if you throw in the Portuguese-speaking "blacks" of Brazil.) Collectively, these would be termed "black Hispanics" to distinguish them from the Hispanics who are either Spanish-speaking Native Americans, European-descended, or a product of intermarriage (as I suspect a mestizo Hispanic named Zimmerman appears to be).

Basically they are reporting the shading of his skin. . If Zimmerman's altercation had been with anyone else but a black person, would the media have played this ridiculous detail up?

Well, white isn’t a race, nor is Hispanic, something people don’t mention. People are broken down by skin color and other body charactertistics for simplicity.

There are black Cubans, for example, some with fine hair, some with coarse hair.

There are also white Eastern Europeans.
The designation of Hispanic shouldn’t matter, because there really are white Hispanics, especially in Argentina, or white Latins I should say, with predominantly Spanish blood.
