In Absence of Facts, Trayvon Martin Case Becomes a War of Images and Reputations Online
Tampa Bay Times ^ | 04/29/12 | Eric Deggans

Here is where the media circus takes a decidedly ugly turn.

Even as protests spread across the country and celebrities from Sinbad to M.C. Hammer weigh in on the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, supporters of shooter George Zimmerman -- including some conservative websites -- are weighing in with attempts to turn Martin's image from innocent kid to dangerous thug.

The website the Daily Caller Monday featured tweets from the dead 17-year-old's now-closed account, topped with a huge photo of the teen showing off his gold teeth (a spokeswoman for the website says they got the photo from his Twitter account and are sure it is Martin).

For those not familiar with Deggans, he is one of "Holder's People". I mention that because it taints, in my opinion, his perspective in writing the article.

Typical St. Pete (Tampa Bay) Times left wing article.

Sinbad? MC Hammer? Are they still around? Haven’t heard about them in about 20 years.

1) Get Obama off the front page. 2) Get Obama off the front page. 3) Get Obama off the front page. 4) Etc.

This is about getting the sheep to watch something other than what they need to. And on top of that to drum up white vs. black. Why? So a kinda black guy gets re-elected. But it won't work. Mark my words, Obama will be defeated in a way that we have not seen in modern times.

What’s wrong with posting his tweets. They are a partial view into his character. And the photo was uploaded by him.
It was the image he wanted to present at least to the twitter audience to represent him. This is like the fact that conservatives are not supposed to utter Barack Obama’s middle name. The media are trying to scrub his image and make him out to be something he wasn’t. The truth is always appropriate even if it isn’t always pretty.

I’m beginning to think this is an attempt to start an all-out race war before the election. The timing of this is just too perfect, coming so soon after BO signed that executive order giving him the right to declare martial law any time he feels like it.

This column is notable for two aspects - first, that he fails to condemn the over-the-top rhetoric by many of those taking Martin's side.

And second, this close illustrates the gap between left and right here:

And we are all left with an uncomfortable question: Even if Martin dabbled in drugs, carried himself like a gangsta and wore tattoos, did Zimmerman have the legal right to kill him that night?

Uncomfortable? What, that someone could, if circumstances warrant, have the legal and moral justification to kill another person trying to kill them?

We do not know yet if Zimmerman truly had that legal and moral justification. But liberals have a fundamental issue with the concept of self-defense in the first place.

Not hard to see it coming now, is it? People used to laugh at that sort of statement. No one’s laughing now. Best to be prepared. Make them pay.

Strawman argument.

He wasn't killed for that, he was killed because he was pounding on Zimmerman with his fists.

Now.....the legit argument may have been "Did Zimmerman have the right to suspect that this black kid was up to mischief in the neighborhood because of his tattoos, appearance, etc".

I'd answer "Well, yeah. When I see a gangbanger cruising around my average suburban whitebread neighborhood, I generally assume that he's not there to sell girl scout cookies." BUT ... others would, and could legitimately disagree with me.

I’ve been wondering about that as well. There seems to be too much support for the protests at high levels of government.

This really puts a bow on the root issue here.

"According to the website, he tweeted under the name NO_LIMIT_NIGGA, passing along messages joking about school and friends with all the profanity and sex you would expect from a teen boy."

REALY?!?

It's almost as bad as trying to negotiate with the Afghans and expecting them to relate. They just aren't wired the same way.

Watch this exchange on BOR.They complain about being "profiled" while at the same time claim dressing and acting like a criminal warrants no such suspicion. Insane.

They are no longer able to sweep all the ugly and inconvenient facts under their rug. "They is spoilin' our lynchin' with this stuff!"

The fact of the matter is that none of the history of either person should have any bearing on whether or not Mr. Zimmerman had a right to kill Martin. Being a drug dealer does not give someone the right to kill you. Being a burglar does not give someone the right to kill you. Being suspended from school does not give someone the right to kill you, even being out in a neighborhood at 3AM does not give anybody the right to kill you. HOWEVER, being on top of someone pounding their head in to the pavement and punching them in the face gives that person (in most states) the right to kill you.

I highly recommend you not do that to me, I would have done what Zimmerman did. I’s a shame he had to kill the kid. It is a bigger shame that the kids parents didn’t raise him any better than they did. He gets a 10 day suspension, thats a huge suspension, and he goes on vacation. I’ll guarantee you my parents would have never let me step foot out the door if I had been suspended I would not have gone outside again until I was 18 years old.

One report says the Travon actually lives 2 1/2 hours away from the complex where he died.

His biological mother sent him to live with his ‘dad’ for awile because she could not deal any longer with his mis-behavior in school, which amounted to multiple transgressions.
Whether this is accurate or not, this is the list I have heard: Not in chronological order:
1. Spray painted obscene remarks on lockers inside his school.
2. Was found with a LARGE screwdriver and WOMEN’s jewelry inside his backpack. No further explanation had reached my ears.
3. Was found with a baggie inside his backpack that had marijuana residue inside it.
4. Assaulted a bus driver.

I can sense her frustration in sending the punk to spend time with “Daddy’.

The Daddy does NOT live in this complex. HIS GIRLFRIEND lives there. Daddy & Trayvon were ‘visiting’ Daddy’s girlfriend when Trayvon went out in the dark to get ‘Iced tea and Skittles. Hell of a ‘dinner’ for a growing kid, IMO.

IF I had a kid with that rash of bad behavior, I would do as you said. He would be chained wrist & ankle to a tree & not let out of my sight. He can figure out how to pull down his zipper to pee—not my problem!!!

Add all of this to his ‘Twitter’ account name, which is disgusting also, & his mouthful of treasured gold teeth, the hoodie, you have a right to be suspicious.

Since he did not LIVE in that complex, was only ‘visiting’, no wonder Zimmerman was suspicious of a person who did not look familiar & was trucking around wearing a hoodie over his head.

I personally hate those damn pieces of apparel.

The thugs wear them like a nationwide uniform & then cry wolf when we get a distinct distaste for the hoodies.

The Miami Heat team wearing them on the court was disgusting, and Bobby Rush—a Black Panther from Illinois—was a complete jackass in the House yesterday.

What else can one expect from the followers of Obama?

I am closer than ever before to believing that Obama is starting a race war in the USA so he can declare Martial Law & shut down the 2012 election.

A friend called today & said she heard ( I don’t know how accurate this is) that the Homeland Security Dept (BARF) has ordered 430 million Hollow Point bullets. Wonder who they intend to use them on??? Ammo company that ends with “K”. I missed part of what she was saying. Have you heard anything?

The biggest question is who in the military will follow his orders to shoot civilians who haave done nothing & are not already in the books as criminals?? Glad I live rural.

Guys? Hear anything about this?

Any ideas who the ammo company would be?

And 430,000,000 rounds? Of hollowpoint? That's not practice ammo, those are non-military combat loads, enough for a medium-sized war.

Somebody “heard” something.

Let’s not get too exercised over that.

430 million rounds do no good without distribution and logistics and organization.

Other than as a target.
