President Obama’s Secretary Paid Higher Tax Rate Than He Did

President Obama today released his 2011 federal income tax, with he and his wife reporting an adjusted gross income of $789,674. The Obamas paid $162,074 in total tax – an effective federal income tax rate of 20.5%. The Obamas also reported donating approximately 22% of their income to charity — $172,130.

President Obama has been making a big political push for the “Buffett Rule,” which would require millionaires to pay a minimum of 30% of their income in taxes. To illustrate the point, the president has pointed out that billionaire investor Warren Buffett pays a lower tax rate than does his secretary.

President Obama’s secretary, Anita Decker Breckenridge, makes $95,000 a year. White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage tells ABC News that Breckenridge “pays a slightly higher rate this year on her substantially lower income, which is exactly why we need to reform our tax code and ask the wealthiest to pay their fair share. ”

Ubama knows his people are too stupid to understand the difference between a tax rate and the actual amount of tax paid.

Let's look at this: Ugama made $789,674 and gave $172,130 to charity. That leaves $617,544 taxable income. From that he took enough deductions to bring his income down to $142,700 at the VERY top to mean he paid in the 20% bracket. So he wrote off $464,844 of his income for mortgage interest, taxes and other non-taxable ventures.

It astounds me that he can bitch and whine about the rich getting all these breaks but he damn sure takes them himself. No one made him do it - it was his choice.

If he follows his past practices, he will also give a substantial amount to his children and shelter the proceeds away not only from his own income taxes, but also shelter the gain from taxes that his daughters might have to pay at some time in the future. For a fellow who doesn't think he pays his fair share, he sure goes out of his way to ensure he doesn't pay it.

As of 2009, the average tax rate was 11% of “adjusted gross income”.

Anyone who paid over 11% in 2009 got a raw deal.

Anyone who paid under 11% in 2009 got a good deal.

I know that the ‘system’ wasn’t set up for my benefit. I paid well over 11%.

I knew Rev Wright’s church was probably a tax shelter, but I didn’t realize Acorn, Cair, and the Muslim Brotherhood were. I wonder if Bill and Hillary are writing off our checks to the PLO?

ABC News, people...ABC NEWS!

Consider the significance.

Very Important People in the Democrat Party have seen Barry’s polling internals, and have had their final spate of underwear soiling.

They know that the way things are heading he is dead meat, and will take their entire ticket over the cliff with him.

Thus the campaign of damaging leaks to formerly servile media begins. Hillary is now getting loose in the bullpen.

My family paid a 34% Federal tax rate (not including state & local) so Obama, et al, can shut the hell up! We are FORCED to give almost half of our income to wasteful fools who don’t have a clue! And it pisses me off to the point of rage because we certainly don’t sit on our asses to make it like Obama, et al!

You didn't count the 48,000 bucks he and the Wookie gave to their daughters this year. This makes that 48 grand untaxable. While that is legal is sure says something about what a hypocrite he is when it comes to paying taxes.

BTW, I don't have a link but the 48 grand to his daughters article was posted on FR this morning. You might find it with a search.

Article posted on FR this morning on how he and the Wookie gave 48,000 bucks to his daughters, which is tax free of course. Perfectly legal but says exactly how big a hypocrite on taxes the Bozo is.

The Obama's are very wealthy and his Tax the Rich or his Fair Share rhetoric is just so much BS as he rubs elbows with the extremely wealthy fund raising for his campaign....wealthy Progressives who know and understand the BS...and will give until they are solvent with the government......can you spell F-R-A-U-D?

I was unaware of the 48 grand given to his kids but that would be included in the 450K or so he wrote off. He whines about the “loopholes” then uses them.
