I have heard that Laura Bush was pro abortion, don't know if that was true or not. I also heard that he put Miers up knowing she would be shot down and then put up the people he really wanted to win. The next one Roberts (I think) got through easily. Maybe that was a plan.

People trashing Harriet Miers know NOTHING about her. She was Bush's attorney and he knew her for over 20 years. He knew she was rock solid on abortion and all the social issues.

People who had never heard of her, Left and Right, attacked her because she was his secret weapon and she was from Texas. In Texas, the Democrats launched a relentless campaign against her and even tried to bring the usual "ethics violations". They attacked her friends and the man she dated for years. The fact that conservatives joined in the lynch mob made it all the more disgusting.

Roberts and Alito are proof he knew what he was doing.
