Hundreds of Arrests Set Grim Backdrop for Victory Day Celebrations
Moscow Times ^ | May 10, 2012 | Howard Amos, Natalya Krainova and Ken Martinez

As Moscow gears up to celebrate its victory in World War II, 67 years ago Wednesday, the shadow of political conflict shrouds the capital as hundreds of arrests cloud Victory Day festivities.

Police said over 200 arrests were made Tuesday and overnight Wednesday on the eve of the anniversary, including repeat detentions for Left-Front leader Sergei Udaltsov and anti-corruption blogger Alexei Navalny, who was arrested twice in a single evening, Interfax reported. Socialite Kseniya Sobchack and State Duma Deputy Dmitry Gudkov were also among those arrested during protests against President Vladimir Putin's inauguration, though they were later released.

Sobchak called her arrest illegal. "It was an absolutely illegal arrest. We didn't chant, we didn't stand with signs. I walked around town with a group of people that didn't want to separate," she wrote in Twitter.

Sobchak and Gudkov later met with about 50 supporters near the Barrikadnaya metro station to speak about the opposition movement. Police broke up the meeting and arrested several demonstrators, despite Gudkov's protests that as a State Duma deputy he could hold meetings with citizens without permission from authorities. Those arrested included Navalny, who came to attend the meeting just hours after he had been detained at another location. Navalny's lawyer said in Twitter that he was being kept in a truck outside the detention center and called for supporters to bring food and water.

Udaltsov, arrested early Wednesday morning, announced through his lawyer Nikolai Polozov that he will hold a hunger strike. Udaltsov will remain in custody at least until a court hearing appointed for Thursday.

The arrests came as demonstrators continued a second night of round-the-clock mobile protest of Putin's inauguration Monday. About 300 were arrested Monday.

A spokesman for the U.S. State Department expressed concern about reports of violence in Moscow during the protests and arrests.

"We are troubled by reports of violence in Moscow during the protests on May 6th and by the arrests that have been carried out over the last three days," State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner said, Bloomberg reported. "We are disturbed by images of police mistreatment of peaceful protesters, both during the protests and after detentions … We want Russia to fulfill its own potential, and that means giving people the chance to freely express themselves," he said.

Opposition activists began calling Wednesday morning for demonstrators to converge at Pushkin Square at 11 a.m. Opposition organizers clarified on Facebook that they did not want to join the communist rally, but use it as a way to gather legally for a march down Tverskaya Ulitsa toward the Kremlin. Demonstrators arriving at the scene began reporting a heavy police presence via Twitter.

Nobody suffered more or sacrificed more than the Russian people in defeating Hitler and living under communism and Stalin. It will take that country more than three or four generations and many backslides before it recovers from the degradations of the 20th century. The genetic losses it suffered may never be replaced.

Yes, the Russian PEOPLE suffered greatly. But prior to the Russian army taking Hitler out they had an agreement with him.

Putin praises Cold War moles for stealing U.S. nuclear secrets
Reuters ^ | Wed Feb 22, 2012 5:04pm EST | Steve Gutterman

Vladimir Putin praised Cold War-era scientists on Thursday for stealing U.S. nuclear secrets so that United States would not be the world's sole atomic power, in comments reflecting his vision of Russia as a counterweight to U.S. power.

Spies with suitcases full of data helped the Soviet Union build its atomic bomb, he told military commanders.

"You know, when the States already had nuclear weapons and the Soviet Union was only building them, we got a significant amount of information through Soviet foreign intelligence channels," Putin said, according to state-run Itar-Tass.

"The were carrying the information away not on microfilm but literally in suitcases. Suitcases!"

Putin's remarks referred to the dawn of the Cold War more than half a century ago, but they echoed a message he has made loud and clear more recently: that the United States needs to be restrained, and Russia is the country to do it. …

Obama To Betray Missile Defense Secrets To Moscow
Investor's Business Daily ^ | January 9, 2012 | IBD staff

Appeasement: From ObamaCare to recess appointments, honoring the Constitution has not been an administration hallmark. But when it comes to betraying secrets to mollify the Russians, it becomes a document the president hides behind.

It was bad enough that the 2012 defense authorization bill signed by President Obama set America on a downward spiral of military mediocrity.

He also issued a signing statement, something he once opposed, saying that language in the bill aimed at protecting top-secret technical data on the U.S. Standard Missile-3 — linchpin of our missile defense — might impinge on his constitutional foreign-policy authority.

Section 1227 of the defense law prohibits spending any funds that would be used to give Russian officials access to sensitive missile-defense technology as part of a cooperation agreement without first sending Congress a report identifying the specific secrets, how they'd be used and steps to protect the data from compromise.

The president is required to certify that any technology shared will not be passed on to third parties such as China, North Korea or Iran, that the Russians will not use transferred secrets to develop countermeasures and that the Russians are reciprocating in sharing missile-defense technology.

Open Mic Catches Obama Asking Medvedev for Space on Missile Defense
March 26, 2012

"In a private conversation about the planned U.S.-led NATO missile defense system in Europe, President Barack Obama asked outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for space on the issue.

This is my last election,” Obama told Medvedev. “After my election I have more flexibility.”

“I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir,” Medvedev said, referring to incoming President Vladimir Putin."

Obama was talking with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev when neither of them realized that their conversation was being picked up by microphones. Here is what they said:

Obama: “On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved, but it’s important for him to give me space.”

Medvedev: “Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you ...”

Obama: “This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.”

Medvedev: “I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.”

“This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.” That statement tells us much about the president’s mindset.

The specific mention of missile defense is worrisome enough. Mr. Obama has retreated from the missile defense plan that was negotiated with European allies during the George W. Bush administration. Apparently, he is signaling Moscow that he intends to retreat further. The clear implication from the president’s comments is that he cannot tell the American people before the election what he plans to do after the election.

In addition, there is the phrase “on all these issues,” implying more is at stake than just missile defense.”

I looked it up on Wikipedia and Lenin still is not buried although they’re thinking about it and even had a poll of the Russian people.

Putin’s thoughts on burial:

“Vladimir Putin, opposed this, pointing out that a reburial of Lenin would imply that generations of citizens had observed false values during 70 years of Soviet rule.”

They brought this war on themselves by being friends with Der Fuhrer and by fomenting Red Uprisings in Germany, which led to National Socialist candidate win.

Russian people should rip their “Leaders” limb to limb for what they went thru because of decisions of those communist scum.

The Soviets are every bit as guilty of starting the war as the Nazis.......they invaded Poland along with the Germans.

Formation of the United Nations:

“Alger Hiss (November 11, 1904 – November 15, 1996) was an American lawyer, government official, author, and lecturer. He was involved in the establishment of the United Nations both as a U.S. State Department and U.N. official. Hiss was accused of being a Soviet spy in 1948 and convicted of perjury in connection with this charge in 1950.

On August 3, 1948, Whittaker Chambers, a former Communist Party member, testified under subpoena before the House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) that Hiss had secretly been a Communist while in federal service. Chambers had previously testified under oath that Hiss had never been a Communist or a spy, and Chambers would admit, under oath, to other instances where he had committed perjury under oath. Called before HUAC, Hiss categorically denied the charge. When Chambers repeated his claim on nationwide radio, Hiss filed a defamation lawsuit against him.

During the pretrial discovery process, Chambers produced new evidence indicating that he and Hiss had been involved in espionage, which both men had previously denied under oath to HUAC. A federal grand jury indicted Hiss on two counts of perjury; Chambers admitted to the same offense but, as a cooperating government witness, was never charged. Although Hiss’s indictment stemmed from the alleged espionage, he could not be tried for that crime because the statute of limitations had expired.”

Did Communism Fake Its Own Death in 1991?
American Thinker ^ | January 16, 2010 | Jason McNew

In a [] 1984 book [New Lies for Old], ex-KGB Major Anatoliy Golitsyn predicted the liberalization of the Soviet Bloc and claimed that it would be a strategic deception. ..."

"Golitsyn's argument was that beginning in about 1960, the Soviet Union embarked on a strategy of massive long-range strategic deception which would span several decades and result in the destruction of Western capitalism and the erection of a communist world government."

"Golitsyn published his second book, The Perestroika Deception, after the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991. This book contained further analysis of the liberalization, in addition to previously classified memoranda submitted by Golitsyn to the CIA. The two books must be read together to get a complete picture of Golitsyn's thesis."
