The media totally misrepresented the scanner story to make the first President Bush appear out of touch. The scanner was a new, improved type that could read a card even when it had been cut in pieces--that is what surprised President Bush.

Does anyone know how much the taxpayers are paying for this campaign trip? On "Fox & Friends" they quoted a figure of $1 million. I suppose they worked in some supposedly non-partisan photo-op into the schedule to pretend that the trip as a whole was on public business.
