I tried to call Rush at the beginning of Michael's call. I had just helped a relative with this very problem. Well, I say helped, but he's mostly sol. Fortunately, we're able to help.

Ky's explanation is very clear (and a little different than Rush's explanation):

"In order to pay out federal benefits, states must continue to meet eligibility criteria, which are tied to the state’s unemployment rate. Because Kentucky’s unemployment rate recently dropped below the federal minimum qualification level, unemployed Kentuckians will no longer be able to receive Extended Benefits, or EB. This program previously lasted for 20 weeks, from weeks 80-99 of the possible 99 weeks of benefits."

Rush is right, the GOP should clamor for proper recalculation of the unemployment rate. This is a hell of a wedge issue, given Michael and his like are likely to blame the incumbent!

“Illinois is approaching bankruptcy”

LOL ! Illinois is bankrupt. Moreover, our lovely governor is bankrupt in soul, bankrupt in mind, bankrupt in every conceivable dimension.

It’s fed money that’s being cut. Most states’ insurance typically pay 6 months.
