THE BATTLE OF ATHENS(Tennessee) [Would FReepers take up arms in the name of Liberty as they did?]
Patriot Post ^ | May 3, 2012 | Mark Alexander

[Snip]...There was a group of lesser-known Tennessee Patriots, however, whose efforts to defend Liberty at home in 1946 were no less noble. This group of World War II veterans took up arms to restore Rule of Law in the quaint east Tennessee town of Athens (McMinn County), between Chattanooga and Knoxville. That fight became known as the Battle of Athens.

That was 1946.

Today they would likely be called 'domestic terrorist' by Big Sis.

Elenor Roosevelt called them everything but a domestic terrorist. This and several other incidents against entrenched Democrat political machines throughout the South were the catalyst for the Democrat crusade against the 2nd amendment. Before then they were just against blacks being armed. After 1946, it was everyone.

Really; now that is interesting.
It makes sense though, I've noticed that agents-of-the-government tend to be against anything that would diminish the government's power, but more especially their particular fiefdom (e.g. judges would favor judicial power over the police's civil/executive power if the two were stacked against each other.)

Agreed. Military vets in 1946 still had their ears ringing from artillery blasts and gunfire. They were trained and experienced in combat and easily able to function under a command structure.

Today, while the veterans have much the same experience, the government does not look upon them as heroes. Big Sis would indeed call them “terrorists” and “violent extremists” and the DHS intimidation would be crushing and brutal.

We veterans swore an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic” and a lot of us still feel the calling of that oath. But consider this:

What would happen if we (a) staunchly supported our Constitution and its “legal” form of government with all our hearts but (b) wanted all current office holders shot and all bureaucrats chased off so that we might have a governmental “reset” and start fresh with new elections and true representation for a change? (Any generals reading this, perchance?)

On the one hand, it would be a sweet solution. We would instantly return to Constitutional government and get rid of all the crap and the crooks now driving us quickly to ruin.

On the other hand, Big Sis & Co. would start shooting us on sight and investigating the rest. (Hell, I’m expecting a knock on the door just for posting this!) But if there were enough of us, and we starting shooting back, then they couldn’t do jack.

Seriously, brothers and sisters, they couldn’t do jack.

LESSON NO. 1: If a bureaucrat, or a soldier sent by a bureaucrat, comes to knock down your door and take you someplace you do not want to go because of who you are or what you think -- kill him. If you can, kill the politician who sent him. You will likely die anyway, and you will be saving someone else the same fate. For it is a universal truth that the intended victims always far outnumber the tyrant's executioners. Any nation which practices this lesson will quickly run out of executioners and tyrants.

LESSON NO. 2: If a bureaucrat, or a soldier sent by a bureaucrat, comes to knock down your door and confiscate your firearms -- kill him. The disarmament of law-abiding citizens is the required precursor to genocide.

See my profile for the source of the above lessons.
