ACUSHNET (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Catholic church in Acushnet is stirring up controversy because of what's on a sign out front. A sign outside of the Saint Francis Xavier Church Tuesday now reads "TWO MEN ARE FRIENDS NOT SPOUSES."
Someone who didn't agree left a rainbow colored balloon and a note that read "you may not be welcome in the church, but all people are welcome in this community! Spread LOVE not hate!"
The church sits directly across from the town hall and serves the Fall River Diocese.
Angry parishioners and residents took to the church's Facebook page to express their anger over the sign.
The church appears to stand by its position by posting articles and YouTube videos that support its views.
Lolz! I wish more priests were this gutsy. Although it's sad that courage is now require to state the obvious.
I saw this breathlessly reported on TV this morning. The writer couldn't hide his shock at this outrage.
Doesn't anyone proof read this stuff?
I hope the Pastor told the "parishioners" (I'll wager that they really weren't) that the nearest Unitarian/Universalist "church" is down on Che Guevara Blvd.
I think the writer/reporter was angry.
Same with the editor.
Recognizing the meaning & function of words is an outrage only to those unable to handle reality.
There is obviously nothing in the least mean spirited in the sign. It is a very gentle way of pointing out what is completely obvious.

Things I do with friends: go to dinner, watch football, play cards, have a few beers.
Things I don't do with friends: @#(%#(%(, or (!@(!) (!@(#)!#). And most certainly not @#($)@( !))!()! @)@()! with a @)(#$)!)~~_ and a !(@#)!()!(@)!.
Well said, Karl. Any two men standing near one another may be friends (or brothers, or father and son, or a boss and employee who hate each other), but on the other hand, they may be something that has to be described with ******s.
A Truro fireman was fired for signing the Marriage Amendment petition at his church. I asked how long it would be before just being a parishioner would get you fired from a city job. Not much longer.

“For all newcomers to the St. Francis Xavier Facebook Page, welcome. We encourage you to engage in dialogue and debate, however those of you who are merely here to attack the Church with crude, violent, or hateful language will be kicked off.”
I love this pastor! LOL
From the comments on FB:
“And this is the reason I question my Catholic faith. The hypocracy is unbelievable. Love is a good thing and it doesn’t matter in what form it comes in.”
Uh... ewwww.
In this case certainly not including either good spelling or grammar.

Find a Corn Hole Tournament:
Thousands upon thousands of competitive cornhole players are out there in parks, backyards, parking lots, bars, wherever they can get a game thirsty for a chance to show off their game in an official tournament. What they need, of course, is a tournament in which to play. Why not make it YOUR tournament!?!
Sanction your tournament and enjoy the benefits of being a part of the ACO. Sanctioning your tournament with the ACO and receive much more than a listing. You’ll get noticed, you’ll gain instant credibility, and best of all...you’ll get players!

I'm so used to cornhole games around here that it took me a while to realize that you were probably making a double entedre. I think they even have them at church festivals.
