Embracing dangerous delusions and not our friends

Two weeks ago, US Congressman Joe Walsh published an oped in the Washington Times in which he called for the US and Israel to abandon the two-state solution. After running through the record of Palestinian duplicity, failed governance, terrorism and bad faith, he called for Israel to apply its sovereignty to Judea and Samaria. In his words, he said Israel should, "adopt the only solution that will bring true peace to the Middle East: a single Israeli state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is the only country in the region dedicated to peace and the only power capable of stable, just and democratic government in the region."

The evidence that the two-state paradigm has failed is overwhelming. The Palestinians' decision to reject statehood at Camp David in 2000 and launch a terror war against Israel made clear that they had not abandoned their refusal from 1947 to accept partition of the land of Israel with the Jews.

So too, the Palestinians' election of Hamas in the 2006 elections, and their missile war against Israel from Gaza in the aftermath of Israel's complete withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 all made clear that they are not interested in a Palestinian state. Rather, their chief desire is Israel's annihilation. Consequentially, there is no chance whatsoever that the two state paradigm can work. Indeed, the fact that there is no Palestinian leader willing to recognize Israel's right to exist makes clear that if a Palestinian state is established in Judea and Samaria — in addition to the de facto Palestinian state in Gaza — that state will be in state of war with Israel. All territory under its control will be used to attack the rump Jewish state.

Another great article by the Ann Coulter of the ME. I can only hope that Bibi reads it! Please, don't destroy Israel when November 2012 is so close!

It’s an obvious solution.

When did pointing out the obvious become the radical position?

It's like the story of the Emperor's New Clothes with the little boy saying the king is naked.

There is a simple way to resolve this, done solely among the top of the Israeli leaders. It would never be released publicly, but would become quiet policy.

It is a series of “red lines” that when crossed would result in the same response, no matter who was in charge, unless all major political factions agreed to not carry out that response.

By debating and agreeing to these red lines now, when they are under less pressure, will they be able to respond effectively when they are under much greater pressure.

For example:

1) The next time a Muslim nation, as a nation, tries to invade Israel, the city of Mecca will be annihilated with a nuclear weapon, the dirtiest weapon imaginable, so it will be uninhabitable for thousands of years.

(This is a good starting point, for everyone to realize how serious these red lines should be.)

2) Next would be a red line for Gaza Palestinians, and West Bank Palestinians. An agreement that if they do ‘x’, then the Gazans will be expelled to Egypt, as a people; and the West Bankers will be expelled to Jordan. Thus there are two red lines here.

3) Another red line would be for the razing of mosques in Jerusalem and Israel. With emphasis on the al-Asqa mosque.

Add another red line for an attack by Hezbollah from the north and I'm game. I like your idea!

I would call it the Hezekiah Option (2 Chron. 32:5) where one is prepared and do everything one possibly can, then trust on God almighty to use one's puny efforts to bring about an amazing victory that will glorify His name!

A nation with a 1/3 voting minority opposed to the concept of the nation itself is a recipe for disaster that cannot fail.

I don't have the answer, but I suspect that avsolution will involve considerable suffering on the part of the Palestinian people, and they will have no one to blame for it but themselves.

Not that that will stop them.

2nd thread. Were Jordan willing to grant citizenship, or Syria, Lebanon or Egypt when controlling Gaza, the "refugee problem" would have ended a half century ago. And I can't blame the King, the palestinians killed grandpa and tried to kill pop. He knows what he's dealing with.

I was responding to this quote from the article, but if you have additional information, or a specific point to make, I would be very happy to hear it.

The truth is that if Israel applied its laws to Judea and Samaria tomorrow and all the Palestinians in those areas received Israeli citizenship, Israel would still retain a two thirds Jewish majority. Moreover, all the demographic trends for Israel including increased birthrates and positive immigration rates are positive
