My 2 cents here, I think the major media outlets were bought off.
They were in dinosaur territory and have continued to lose consumers ever since, but very few have laid off any of their people.

This may be a tinfoil hat thing here, but I think the media was told to fall in line and their financial worries would go away. The media is a bunch of leftys, but it didn’t make sense that they would outright campaign for an avowed marxist.

I don't think you need to breakout the tinfoil. During GW’s Presidency, Soros pledged his fortune to undoing Bush's legacy. We already know Media Matters controls the bylines and we know Media Matters is a Soros funded group. We know Media Matters has weekly meetings with Valerie Jarrett. 1+1+1= Media in Soro’s/Obama’s pockets.
