Continued Troop Support, Part 3, Olney,MD - Wks. 328 to 331, May 05 to Memorial Day Weekend 2012

Posted on 05/28/2012 7:53:39 AM PDT by trooprally

Part Three and the last of catching up with my back log of missing AARs.

As mentioned in Parts One and Two, a very good way to remember and honor our Marines, soldiers, sailors, airmen and coasties who have given their lives over the past 2 centuries is by getting caught up on the AARs for Olney, MD’s Support the Troops Rallies during this Memorial Day Weekend. Part of the freedom we have is being able to stand on any corner in America and have the freedom to express ourselves. The patriots in Olney stand to give voice to our military against those who scorn and disrespect our brave military.

The Memorial Day articles on FR struck a chord with me this year. One in particular mentions that Memorial Day is not so much about ‘death’, but about Duty and Honor. In recent history, our military has relied on an all volunteer force. They did not volunteer to die, they volunteer out of duty and honor, to protect our freedom.

On Memorial Day, America honors, respects and are thankful to those who have died. On Veterans Day, America honors, respects and are thankful to the living. Patriots honor, respect and are thankful to all veterans EVERY DAY.

The month of May has been interesting. The first Saturday the moonbats had 2. The rest of the month they were a NO SHOW. We will have to see what June brings.

WEEK 328, May 05,2012

Another big week of patriots. The 9 patriots this week include Veterans Dave (Army- WWII), Halsey (USMC - Korea), Carl (Army- Vietnam), Lurker Jim (Army- Vietnam) and [Mrs] T (Army - early 70s), along with Lurker Bill, Janet, GunsAreOK and myself.

A Big THANK YOU to [Mrs] T for her continuous picture taking.

A lady came by and gave us all a bottle of water. Being fairly warm it was well received.

BELOW LEFT: Lurker Jim salutes “The Gunny” BELOW RIGHT: Lurker Bill

BELOW: GunsAreOK and me.

And since we do not see the moonbats for the remainder of May, here they are:

WEEK 329, May 12,2012

Six patriots this week include Veterans Dave (Army- WWII), Halsey (USMC - Korea) and [Mrs] T (Army - early 70s), along with Lurker Bill, Janet and myself.

The moonbats had ZERO.

WEEK 330, May 19,2012

Once again, 6 patriots this week. They include Veterans Bill (Army - Vietnam), Lurker Jim (Army- Vietnam), and [Mrs] T (Army - early 70s), along with patriots Lurker Bill, Fraxinus and myself.

BELOW LEFT: Me with Bill. He has stood with us on several occasions. BELOW RIGHT: Me with Fraxinus.

BELOW LEFT: Lurker Jim salutes. BELOW RIGHT: Lurker Bill’s trademark smile.

WEEK 331, May 26,2012

Memorial Day Weekend. A perfect day for a rally and a perfect time to remember those heroes who have fallen in the service to our county.

Five patriots this week. Veterans were Halsey (USMC - Korea), Lurker Jim (Army- Vietnam) and [Mrs] T (Army - early 70s). FReepers include Lurker Bill and myself.

It was a special day today and it showed.

BELOW LEFT: A car load of patriots on their way to Arlington Cemetery gave us one of their roses. We left it on the corner with the two flags. BELOW RIGHT: This banner, courtesy of Lurker Jim, is the smaller of the flags with the rose. The Honor and Remember mission is to “To Establish a Tangible National Symbol of Gratitude as a Visible Public Reminder to all Americans; Perpetually Recognizing the Sacrifice of Our Military Fallen Heroes and Their Families”.

BELOW LEFT: Lurker Jim with sign specially printed for Memorial Day. BELOW RIGHT: Me with the other special sign.

BELOW: Lurker Bill with his always appropriate sign.

And (BELOW), for the 3rd Saturday in a row, empty moonbat corner.

HEADS UP - Montgomery County has installed a lot of new speed cameras. They are the BOX type, and they are replacing the camera on poles with the box type.

If you live in northern VA and want a short cut to Olney See Post 39 Here. It's an easy 20 minute drive from the American Legion Bridge.

A special Thanks to a FReeper FRiend for enhancing the original plain type directions.

The Archive of Olney FReeps is here or in the LINKS section of Trooprally's ABOUT Page.

Last of the back log of AARs.

Hope everyone is continuing to have a patriotic Memorial Day weekend. Praying that Hurricane Beyrl does not do serious damage.

Hey, what do you have against Lurker Bill? You left out his picture. :o)

Thank you all for keeping the vigil. As for the moonbats, I agree with their signs, but I question their idealism. It's just plain dumb to think that war will ever stop until the Lord comes. God bless all the heroes who volunteer to stand in the gap, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Yep, the moonbats are idealists. The small group on the corner have pleaded for more support but no one came out. Most Quakers in Olney understand that they have the freedom to be conscientious observers, because our military fought for them to practice their beliefs. The

Quakers on the corner are also hypocrites. Quakers belief that they are world citizens with no allegiance to a particular country. Yet they occasionally hold American flags. And they are not very committed which shows from their lack of being on the corner each week and their small numbers. Back in 2006 they averaged about a dozen, almost always out numbering us.

And for the patriots in Olney, you are welcome for the kudos.

Thanks for the patriots in Olney.

No worry about joining us. A while back you helped many times by standing with the DC Chapter. Now you are helping us keep the freedoms we have. One does what they can, wherever they are. I thank you for that.

Nice to see the last of the reports...right up to the minute! LOL

Thank you FReepers for always being there for us!

Where did that new flag come from? I do not ever remember seeing one like it. I would like one for holidays here too.

The house was covered with flags and banners and even my inflatable Uncle Sam Bear was out there waving to the neighborhood.

Nice of someone to stop and thank you and give you the rose.

Soon I will be able to visit Arlington myself...just a few weeks.

Lurker Jim is the person spearheading the Honor and Respect organization.

We have some desk size flags if you can use those.

The link to the organization is in the thread.

Sounds like you will be in town early this year. Hopefully we can link up.

Got the email...will make the contact.

I have looked at the flag info and found some things I want but the flag is pricey for casual use.

Thanks

Yep, occasional use makes even reasonable priced things pricy.

You need to get yourself a sugar daddy, or is that sugar grand-daddy. /smiling
