Those mark the stations for helo deliver of personnel, weapons, or supplies to the sub. MAkes it much easier to see where to hold station for helo pilot.

Thank you. I thought that at first but if you look at the original picture there are a set of markings on the aft end of the boat and another set of markings just aft of the tower. Wouldn’t the forward markings be too close to the conning tower for a helicopter to use?

the stern one i can understand, but the one near the sail seems WAY to close to the rotors for safety... iirc there was a laser communication program at one time that may or may not of become operational, could they be aiming markers also???
