The war on pot is a pointless waste of taxpayer money.

It’s absurd that the government tells us “it’s ok to use beer and cigarettes but if you smoke a plant that people have been smoking since 4000BC we will put you in jail.”

At least our country is so abundantly wealthy and debt free that we don’t need to worry about new streams of revenue. Far better to let that money go, untaxed, into the hands of Mexican cartels, right? /sarc

I would say that the Issue I have with the war on drugs is that it has become a war on people’s rights in the name of “saving people from themselves”. That and it is a “federaly undeclared war against the citizens of the united states” by it’s definition. A war that they haven’t even actually constitutionally declared much like the disasterous war on poverty has been.

It is very much draconian in how it acts against the people in much the same way the progressive era prohibition was. Now if the states themselves want to prohibit a substance they should be free to and we have “dry counties and semi-dry states” today. But to play nanny to these people using the “Opressive hand of the federal governemnt” is even worse than a big city mayor outlawing large sodas.

Actually I think legalaized pot would be a good thing for the Republic as all the dopers would volutarily take themselves out of the voting process as a happy pot doper would be far less inclined to get off their doritoes eating rear end every other 1st Tuesday in November and vote for their welfare enablers.
