Mom Arrested After Child Tests Positive For PCP

A six-year-old girl found something that tasted like "fireworks" in her lunch bag. Police say it turns out her sandwich had the drug PCP in it.
Police arrested her mother, 34-year-old Toriana Gutierrez, in Del Valle late Friday afternoon.
Investigators say her daughter was acting strangely in her first grade classroom last month and was under the influence. She told her teacher she could her “banging in her head” and was talking to people that weren’t there.

Some drugs can cause a kind of sensory crossover. I used to
know an acid head who said he could taste colors etc. Sure
hope this kid isn’t that messed up.

I would hate to imagine how, if she ever literally did.
Technically, the senses of taste and smell are related enough (some of what is perceived as taste is the odor of what has been taken into the mouth) that it’s possible to say that an unfamiliar substance tastes like something familiar smells. In this case, it’s the familiar pungent odor of fireworks smoke.
PCP in a sandwich. For the girl to eat at school. What was mama thinking? Was she high on the stuff too?

I can't figure out how mommy put PCP in her daughter's sandwich accidentally? Why would the school let the mother take the child home when she was hallucinating from something the mother gave her to eat? They would have called the swat team if she had an aspirin.

PCP (phencyclidine) was developed in the 1950s as an intravenous anesthetic, but its use for humans was discontinued because it caused patients to become agitated, delusional, and irrational. Today individuals abuse PCP because of the mind-altering, hallucinogenic effects it produces.
