Top spot for Gov. Christie could be GOP Convention keynote speech;

Even before it became clear that Mitt Romney would be the GOP presidential nominee, many wondered whether his most outspoken surrogate, Gov. Chris Christie, was angling for an invitation to run for vice president. But there’s another high-profile role that could exploit the Garden State governor’s talents and catapult him in the minds of Republican voters already surveying the 2016 field: keynote speaker at the GOP Convention in Tampa. Romney has given no hints about who he’ll recruit as a running mate or ask to deliver the plum prime-time address. And Christie’s camp won’t comment.

they should have gotten a conservative.

I like Christie for about 40% of what he does...the rest is typical northeast liberal RINO.

The party is ROTTEN from its HEAD DOWN.

The GOP will feature ROMNEYCARE/OBAMACARE for all.

Mr. RomneyCARE will support TARP, Sharia, global warming
and EVERY OTHER DNC agenda.

At the end of the day, the GOP has thrown Away a great
opportunity, and is close to suicide.

I think Christie would make a great keynote speaker for the convention. I don’t agree with every position he has, but the guy is probably one of the best things to ever happen to New Jersey politics.(at least from this outsider’s view). I also think a lot of viewers and potential supporters would enjoy hearing his no BS way of speaking.

Christie needs to be anti-doughnuts, not anti-gun.

Speaking of speeches, anyone who has not seen our Gal Sarah's speech at the Right Side Bloggers conference this past week, it is a must view.

http://www.conservatives4congress.com/2012/06/governor-sarah-palin-full-keynote.html#post-title

Every time I watch her, I (as are no doubt 99% of fellow Freeps) am saddened that she is not our Candidate as well as anyone with an ounce of honesty, can not but help compare how poised, intelligent and articulate she is as opposed to our Fascist, Neo-Commie Dear Leader.

Oh, and did I mention (as usual) she speaks extemporaneously for 30 minutes using only notes?

The stumbling, bumbling, Ijit, O'Bummer can not even address a group of school kids absent his trusty teleprompter.

And she is the air head and he's a genius?

Right!

Surreal! Christie as VP candidate would be a definitive non-vote from me for the 2012 RINO ticket.

The ideal person to showcase is Scott Walker, who has earned it for his courage, reform policies, and stunning victories in union dominated Wisconsin. Now there is a man every red-blooded American conservative could support. He would energize the base and encourage the suffering Americans in other Liberal Gulags! Besides, it would make all the Liberal and union thug heads in the country explode!

I'm not too sure who Christie would excite except northeast RINOs, Ann Coulter, John McLame, and Weight Watchers of America.

Each and every one of them?

Just thought I’d mention it, Camel’s nose in the tent and all that.

I say this with a heavy heart, but in truth, Romney may not need the Freeper vote. The reason red states are called red states is because they provide the GOP with large victory margins. Freepers represent maybe 5% of the GOP vote, if that. It would make a lot of sense for Romney to sacrifice his victory margins in the red states if it helps him snag independent votes in the purple states. For more or less the same reason, Clinton chose Gore as his VP in 1992, despite the fact that they were red states even then - he figured he could sacrifice some margins in the blue states in exchange for a chance at winning some of the purple or red states.

That's been Romney's strategy from the start. He needed to eliminate any potential Conservative rivals (like Palin) and then get just enough votes to get through the primaries and caucuses before counting on a coalition of party-first Republicans/RINOs and disaffected Rats to secure the big win in November. And then to hell with the Conservative base.

Rubio should be the keynote. He is the biggest up and comer, the best orator, and it is his home state. What a great script to kick off the convention and energize the base.

While I share some of your thoughts, I disagree. Romney is going to need every last vote he can get, and it starts with an energized base. For the sake of argument I am going to lump Freepers and the tea party into one group. If this base of voters is not energized to vote, volunteer and donate, he cannot win.

The purple states are chock full of our types. Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Virginia. All hinge on base excitement. Wisconsin, too as fully demonstrated a couple weeks ago with the recall.

We are not going to be happy with every position nor every statement, but seldom is anyone going to be 100% lockstep with any candidate. He’s showing that he is going to largely fight with our ideas. The Paul Ryan budget, a pretty strong immigration stance, and a goal to cut government. Despite all the warts, this is the first nominee since Reagan talking about cutting.

Gov. Crispy Cream of NJ is absolutely the wrong OPTIC for the party.

He will represent a party which is out of touch with starving poor people.

400 lbs of blubber is not good marketing !
