The Wintour-Parker fundraiser wasn't such a success after all
American Thinker ^ | June 17, 2012 | Thomas Lifson

Despite the best efforts of a compliant media to puff up the alleged star power of the Preezy of the United Steezy, the entertainment industry gloss on his most recnet high profile fundraiser in New York turns out to have been rather dull. Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 reports:

"Unless celebrities were invisible or shipped in from the roof through a chimney, the Obama fundraiser at Sarah Jessica Parker's house last night was not so star-studded. From every report filed, the main star who attended was Meryl Streep. Unless, she's suddenly changed her entire past practice of political donorship, it's unlikely that Streep donated $40,000 to anything. Aretha Franklin stopped in for a few minutes, and then headed off to the Songwriters Hall of Fame dinner uptown. That left a few fashion people, and a sighting of Olivia Wilde, an up and coming actress who's given some money to Democratic causes but nothing in that ballpark."

The commuter trains were shut down into lower Manhattan, the city was tied up in Gridlock, and a breathless press announced the evening was a glamourfest.

Why doesn’t Obama resign now?

Somebody should hack TOTUS before his next speech and put his resignation speech on there. He’ll be merrily reading away and voila ..... resignation!! Of course, he’d have to be carried out in a straight jacket to get him to actually leave, but that would be ok with me, too.

Olivia Wilde is not up and coming. She’s been around for several years. The only two movies I saw her in were Tron Legacy and Cowboys and Aliens. Granted, she is no Merryl Streep. She also did an on and off stint on House.

Needless to say, if that is the A List at the fundraiser, it’s either because everyone is sick of Obama or SJP needs new friends.

Olivia Wilde made an anti-Palin video in which (if memory serves) she called Sarah Palin an idiot.

The video was vitriolic and mean.

That's why she was invited to the Broderick-Parker residence.

Michael Kors, an ubiquitous American fashion designer, was there.

These fashion people have such short memories.

The rise of "label identification" was during the eighties... when Reagan was president... and capitalism was king.

Why doesn’t Obama resign now?

1. He thinks he's doing a splendid job.
2. If he did, the barbarians on the other end of his BlackBerry would have him martyred.

I remember seeing the video, and it was literally hysterical. I don't mean 'funny', but 'frightened to near insanity'

And Showbiz 411 is so veddeh chic, PC and biased.

I added a comment to the preceding two about 24 hours ago.

As of two minues ago, my:

The point of diminishing returns was hit back in February for these bi coastal money bundling bachanals and shakedown soirees. Maybe, Anna Wintour won’t get that Ambassadorship to the Court of Saint James, after all.

Was still ‘awaiting moderation’.

According to another report, even Ms. Parker’s husband, Matthew Broderick, wasn’t present for the event. Reportedly the Anointed One told the assembled swells that Mr. Broderick “had a show to do” or something to that effect.

To be honest, I don’t keep up with the careers of the stars. But if Broderick is appearing in a Broadway play or filming a movie, I’m sure the producers would give him the evening off to host to the POTUS at his Manhattan pad—especially when it was for such a noble cause, Barry’s re-election (sarc).

The fact that Ms. Parker couldn’t get her own husband to show up speaks volumes about her status in Democratic and celebrity circles.

Excellent idea.

I have one request...have him read "corpsman" once more before he reads his resignation.

Broaderick appears in the lead role on Broadway in : NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT.

The problem with taking one night off is this -— HE IS THE STAR OF THE SHOW and people pay tickets to watch HIM play the lead role.

They’d demand their money back if someone else appeared instead of him.

Hence, even the One has to take a back seat.

The effort to dislodge him from the white house would pale in comparison to that required to suck the old lady out of the place. Violent standoff with full SWAT response. The Branch Davidian climax was a relative picnic.

Actually, as far into “the Obamas” as Valdemort Jarrett has insinuated her presence, there are two “ladies” that need removing. Evidently you don’t cross Jarrett under any circumstances so you might need Seal Team 6 to take her out of the WH. My guess is they’d be glad to do it, too.
