Senator John Kerry announced yesterday that he plans to pass the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities before July 26—just 13 days from today. He has scheduled a formal committee vote next Thursday—July 19. This is an unprecedented attempt to jam a binding international treaty through the Senate without proper time for debate or consideration.

I cannot think of a treaty signed in the last 20 years that has made things better for American citizens.

Article 7 of the UNCRPD gives government the ability to override every decision of a parent of disabled children if the government thinks that its views are in “the best interest of the child.”

Just wonderfull. More freedom killing UN treaties..... If you have a disabled child the Obamacare doctor gets to make the decisions.

Hopefully people with disabled children will stop taking money from the government and raise their own children without the help of government. It is costing the government a fortune to raise these kids. If you take the money, you don’t have a say. Stop taking the money and you can raise the child as you see fit.

I think there is a worse one coming up on the 27th. Hitlery is supposed to sign a gun control treaty that restricts the right to own handguns. The Toe Sucker has been talking about it.

Some where in this treaty will be a provision to make DumBO hereditary dictator for life and it will become part of the Constitution.

Does all of this just scream “we’re losing in November so let’s jam everything down their throats now”. Think what a lame duck for this bunch will be like.

To the GOPe in Congress: Can you PULEEEEEZE find your brass ones for just a few months until WE the PEOPLE send in some fresh faces in January?

We are sick to death of the NON leadership from boo hoo boner and “I’m disappointed at the Dems” McConnell. For Cryin Out LOUD GOPe - GET with the program, will ya?

Pray for this nation.

Seems like the refresher course in treaties was well justified and warranted.
How many saw it is the issue.

I don't think you'll disagree with my editorial preference.

Handing more power to Federal courts to morph what constitutes "equal protection" is never a good idea.

I agree. If I ever found myself on the same side of an issue with this treasonous traitor I’d have to do some serious soul searching. As long as we disagree, I know I’m on the right side!

Let’s retire the term “RINO”. It’s too easy to plop that label on people without giving a rationale. Intellectually lazy.

Senator John Kerry announced yesterday that he plans to pass the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities before July 26.

He's going to need the help of 65 or so others to do it.

He's going to need the help of 65 or so others to do it.
No, not necessarily. Here's your refresher course.
2/3 of Senators present can ratify a treaty.

For example...
@ PROCEEDINGS AND DEBATES OF THE 106th CONGRESS, SECOND SESSION

S10667

The PRESIDING OFFICER. A division has been requested.
Senators in favor of the ratification of this treaty, please raise their hand. (After a pause.) Those opposed will raise their hands.
With two-thirds of the Senators present having voted in the affirmative, the resolution of ratification is agreed to.
Mr. THOMAS. I thank the Presiding Officer, the Senator from West Virginia, and the clerk.
By the way, just for information, these treaties were all approved by the Foreign Relations Committee on October 4 and 5.

2/3 of the Senate wasn't there. Those present voted for the ratification. The quorum call was rescinded with no objection. That's 34 treaties ratified with a hand count!
It doesn't matter if they aren't present when the vote comes up.

So we have the potential of all these "stand up guys" simply not showing up when it comes time to vote and they can then truthfully claim "I was against this treaty".

They need to formalize their intent to object.
Executive Calendar

When a notice of intent to object is given to the appropriate leader, or their designee, and such notice is submitted for inclusion in the Congressional Record and the Senate Executive Calendar, or following the objection to a unanimous consent to proceeding to, and, or disposition of, matters relating to nominations and treaties on their behalf, it shall be placed in the section of the Senate Executive Calendar entitled “Notice of Intent to Object ”. (S. Res. 28, 112th Congress) Don't forget the importance of this either... When a notice of intent to object is given to the appropriate leader, or their designee, and such notice is submitted for inclusion in the Congressional Record and the Senate Executive Calendar...

It could be ratified due to one person simply not doing their job properly.
