Could this be a sicko political ploy by the 'Rats to raise public awareness in favor of gun control and, by implication, candidates who favor it?

A bit like "Fast and Furious," maybe, in that respect?

Remember how they tried to capitalize politically on the Arizona incident in which several people died and Congresswoman Giffords was seriously injured?
