My first car (in 1959 the year I got my license) was a 1953 Chevy.

Since then, I probably have owned more GM cars (especially my favorite way back when "P's" or Pontiacs) than any other make.

NO MORE!

I will NEVER buy another GM product.

The federal government of Canada (aka GouvFedCan in bilingualspeak) took my hard earned dollars to ‘invest’ in Government Motors. To save 7,500 VERY high paying union jobs (CAW, the canuck version of the UAW) in Oshawa Ontario, the GouvFedCan spent $9.5 billion on GM ($1.4 billion loan and an ‘equity’ purchase of 11.7% for $8.1 billion). So, allowing that GM has ‘paid back’ the loan, each one of those 7,500 jobs in Canada cost a mere ‘investment’ of $1.08 million! If the GouvFedCan were to offer me this amount, I think tht I could hire someone for easily 10+ years, subject to a small handling charge for my efforts. All joking aside, what a waste of taxpayers (MY) money!

On the one hand, it is good that there will be some investment in Canada, as so much of my money was ‘invested’ by GouvFedCan, though the investment is in Ontario. Unfortunately, Dolt-on McSquinty makes Moonbeam appear almost ‘Reaganesque’ in nature.

In any case, I would not buy a new GM or Chrysler, instead, perhaps a Ford or foreign car (preferrably made in US or Canada).
