Four Signs of Cruz-mentum
Hotlineoncall. National Journal ^ | July 24,2012 | Sean Sullivan

Dewhurst's Allies Are Throwing The Kitchen Sink At Cruz: The main super PAC supporting Dewhurst, the Texas Conservatives Fund, released a harsh new TV ad on Tuesday which can be best described as a political Hail Mary Pass.

The spot ties Cruz to the suicide of a teenager (the boy's mother is featured in the ad) who served time in a juvenile detention center. But to say the connection is a stretch would be an understatement. Cruz defended a Pennsylvania developer in a judicial but not a corruption......

Cruz's Fundraising: Cruz outraised Dewhurst during the May 10-June 30 period, bringing in $1.7 million to Dewhurst's $1.5 million and he brought in more than three times what Dewhurst hauled in the first 11 days of July. Dewhurst, who has been a financial juggernaut the entire campaign, also chipped in $4.5 million of his own money on top of the $1.5 million he raised from May 10 to June 30. But as a sign of momentum, Cruz's tally shows donors are as fired up as ever about his candidacy --

Dewey has been spamming me with robocalls radio ads, TV ads, mailers.

He’s desperate.

Cruz signs are E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E!”

I counted 10 for him tonight at our early polling place and nary a one for what’s his name.

Am going to vote tomorrow. Still can’t decide on Railroad Commissioner though and I have met both candidates, heard them talk and spoken with each separately. Very important position considering all our exploration activities. Real dilemma for me.

Chishum or Craddick

Dewhurst, in his ads and in his debate, attacks with emotional ad hominem slurs, often stretching the truth.

Cruz looks like he’s strong enough to represent Texas. He’s got energy and is a good speaker. In his latest attack ad, Dewhurst wants to pin Cruz for representing, as a lawyer, a bad client. OK, I can put up a warning flag on Cruz, but I’ll vote for him in this election cycle. Dewhurst can’t clearly state specifics of what he’d do, except for immigration. But his wishy-washy nature leads one to question his motivation to do more than talk about it. Dewhurst reminds me of Kay Bailey Hutchinson, who has been a huge disappointing RINO. Cruz appears to be a straight shooter with specifics. He has the Tea Party accreditation, which in this race is important.

What is difficult is we know a lawyer has to represent his client and in Dewey case a Lt Gov has to represent his constituents.

Clients and constituents can be reprehensible.

What makes me like Cruz is that he isn’t always clutching at his tie like he is lying.

He has said some stuff that bugs me but so has dewhurst.

Kay Bailey has more intellect and testosterone than Dewhurst.

Cruz will shake up the Senate.

Does that mean that Dewhurst is a menopausal woman in need of hormone replacement therapy?

This is classic Tom Craddick, former Speaker of the TX House, in action. He’s an oil man who will either have his daughter Christi or Chisum, his former staffer, running the oil and gas industry in TX. No conflict of interest here, no sire Bob.

No one in far West Texas trusts Craddick’s daddy after he tried to take over their land rights. There should be no dynasty’s in politics.

Being from MA, Cruz and Dewhurst were just names to me until I watched their debate the other night. And the choice was clear. Dewhurst was a boring slow-talking, old, establishment type who would love to drone on in the senate to prepared remarks with nobody at all listening.

Cruz, on the other hand, was young, enthusiastic, and unafraid of taking on Dewhurst’s lies to his face. He can speak with clarity and leadership.

Cruz will definitely make the better senator and hopefully, will not subscribe to the go-along nature of Mitch McConnell. We need as many people that get on the nerves of leadership as possible until we have the numbers to replace them.

I voted Monday in the early voting. At the location there were Cruz signs but nothing of Dewhurst. Very light turnout at that time. There were about 1.4 million voters in the primary so turnout will be the key for this runoff.

The fact that the entire republican establishment is absolutely apoplectic over the prospect of a non-member in the U.S. Senate is quite instructive.

Dewhurst is a scumbag -- and he has recruited Huckabee into doing robocalls for him. All it got him was a quick hangup.

My Cruz signs finally arrived today, and two drivers on our rural road honked and gave me thumbs up as I was putting them in place... :-)
