Visit an Air Base and it is doomed for closure.
Visit a coal mine that was forced to go belly-up from the policies imposed to intentionally doom the coal industry.

This reminds me of Peppy Le Pew walking by the flowers as they die from the stench.

Devastating info like this needs to be included in political ads. We must go to the polls and vote this America hating goon out of office.

Maybe I’m wrong about this, but I thought the decline of coal involved more than just environmental policies. Here in the Northeast we’ve seen coal displaced by natural gas as a preferred form of energy for power generation, as more and more Marcellus Shale projects come on line.

“Despite administration denials, the 179th Airlift Wing may be doomed.”

The gutting of America’s Military and defense, continues...

Ummm, is nobody paying attention to this? Obama closes a coal mine. Electricity prices to increase by a factor of ten to twenty ???? Are you kidding me? Will people stand for this?

Wake up America.

The thing about closing a coal mine is that it will have to be 'reclaimed'. After that is done, you can't just plug it in and throw the switch, so to speak, and the costs of re-opening it may prove prohibitive unless prices are really high. Natural Gas wells deplete fairly rapidly (faster than oil wells), and Federal control of water for fracking or other purposes (see what's happening in New Mexico) will ultimately control the supply of natural gas. With the coal mines shut down the freezing masses can be more easily loaded on 40 and 8's for the trip to the camp in a warmer climate.

It isn't the money, it's the control.
