300,000? That seems awfully high

"According to some estimates, more than 300,000 United States troops have suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of these injuries have resulted from blasts from roadside bombs and other explosives planted by insurgents."

Those are some estimates. Afghanistan is still going on. Iraq lasted almost 8 years. Using improvized explosive devices is and was a primary tactic.

"America has been at war with Iraq and Afghanistan for more than a decade, and during that time, more than 2 million Americans have been deployed overseas."

“300,000? That seems awfully high”

I agree. This includes all troops in a blast no matter how severely impacted. With one tenth of that 30,000 being hurt as this study lays out. This is my guess.

I do not doubt how serious how IED blasts can be to the brain
