Vidal consistently made the point that there is no such thing as a "homosexual" and there is no such thing as a "heterosexual". For him, everyone was everything, and while an activity could be classified one way or another, people could not be categorized in a static way.
It struck me that this completely destroyed the "born that way" concept. Basically, you CHOOSE to engage in homosexual activity. You don't have to. You don't have a homosexual nature: no one does. It's simply a chosen lifestyle.
I really don't think Vidal had the ability to see how devastating his own viewpoint was. You cannot champion special rights for homosexuals if homosexuals are completely in that category by choice.
Actually the fact that the homosexual community allows in bisexuals, transexuals, and transgendered into the tent essentially does the same thing even though nobody really bothers to consider it.
Though I’ve been thinking lately as to how stupid the notion of rights for the transgendered are.
I mean really, let’s think about this- if someone thinks they are a chicken we don’t graft fake wings and a beak on them then tell them it OK to go scratching out in the yard. We throw them in the loony bin for their inability to accept reality. How it the inability to accept the gender you are born with any different?
I wonder how many of his worshipers realize that.
