These people are idiots. The kinds of people who would trade in their guns for token sums of money are not violent criminals, who need them as a basic tool of the trade.

It looks like the end may be in sight for these stupid buybacks. Our side is begining to 'take unfair advantage' of them.
I like the idea of holding a “buy-back” in a town with a pro-gun police force, as trade-ins for newer and better guns.
It works with used car trade-ins, so why not guns?
The pro-gun police would do a quick serial number check to see if the gun was wanted as evidence in a crime, but once accepted for a dollar amount, then the gun user could select their new gun from a catalog, or would get a coupon for that dollar amount to buy a new gun from participating gun stores.
And, they could rub salt in the wound by saying that the purpose of the “buy-back” is to get old, poorly maintained guns off the street as they are unsafe, replacing them with new, well functioning guns.
