Egypt Admits: We Received Intelligence About the Attack

The head of Egyptian intelligence said on Tuesday that Egypt had received intelligence about Sunday’s attack on the Egypt-Israel border before it took place.

Mourad Mowafy told a Turkish news agency that “Despite the detailed information about the attack, we never imagined that a Muslim would kill a Muslim during the meal to end the Ramadan fast day.”

He added, “But this does not diminish the ability of our security agencies and their vigilance in Sinai." He added that preliminary information suggests that the terrorists belong to a group in Sinai and Gaza.

Egypt’s state-run MENA news agency quoted medical and security sources on Tuesday as saying that the bodies and body parts of the attackers were transferred from the Arish General Hospital morgue to the Department of Forensic Medicine in Cairo.

MENA quoted unnamed sources as saying autopsies would be conducted to identify the bodies. Israel on Monday handed over four bodies to their Egyptian counterparts through the Awja crossing, most of which were completely burned, the report said.

Sunday’s terror attack began when terrorists attacked two Egyptian army posts in the Egyptian part of Rafiah with anti-tank rockets and gunfire. The terrorists then tried to infiltrate into Israel using two stolen Egyptian military vehicles, but were foiled by the IDF.

The Muslim Brotherhood claimed that Israel was behind the terror attack, saying it “could be attributed to the Mossad, which has been seeking to abort the Egyptian revolution, especially as it had several days ago instructed Israeli citizens who were in Sinai to leave immediately.”

They knew about the attack in advance, but were sure they would only kill Jooos!, so did nothing, and then when they killed Muslims instead, blamed the Jooos! for it. OK. No surprises. Not even disappointment. This is how it works over here.

Soooo...the Israelis snuck into Egypt and attacked an Egyptian border outpost with guns and anti tank weaponry, hijacked two Egyptian military vehicles and then tried to run the Israeli border ending being literally blown to bits by the Israeli military with their bodies sent back to Egypt in pieces. And to top it all off the Israelis leaked their plans to Egyptian intelligence, but the Egyptians didn’t believe that it would happen because good Muslims wouldn’t attack on Ramadan?

Whew. Even Harry Reid would blush at that one. I’m going to go back to my regularly scheduled election coverage. Too much crazy in that area of the world for me today.
