The brand new Romney-Ryan ticket experienced quite a Sunday -- addressing packed rallies in North Carolina, sitting down for a joint interview on 60 Minutes, then wrapping up in Wisconsin for an humongous homecoming rally for Paul Ryan. Official estimates pegged the crowd at roughly 13,000 in Waukesha. This is what enthusiasm looks like: (picture at link)
Ryan got the crowd energized with a sentimental ode to the state that he and his family have called home for generations. He wiped away tears of emotion as the Badger State audience showered him with cheers. After ceding the microphone to Mitt Romney, a handful of Left-wing hecklers attempted to shout over the Republican candidate. The large crowd drowned them out with chants of "USA," then Romney let loose. He directly chided one of the disruptive attendees, then parlayed the rebuke into a stinging indictment of Barack Obama's relentlessly negative and dishonest campaign. The gathered throng erupted:
Romney proceeded to run down a litany of Obama's policy failures and promised to turn the country around, if elected. This is the most focused and electric I've ever seen Mitt Romney, having covered him for more than a year. The Ryan pick -- reportedly made over some Romney advisers' early objections -- has galvanized the candidate, as well as the electorate. The GOP ticket has raised more than $5 million just online since Ryan's Saturday morning roll-out. Game on.
Obama is a vapid failure. His campaign will always be in the gutter. It is reflective of the Chicago values so articulated beautifully by Rahm Emmanuel. The big question to be settled by this election is whether Chicago values are now the prevailing standard in America.
Think of Mitt as the ‘moderate’ transition to a Ryan presidency.

Bingo!!!!!
Or as someone said on another thread, we had Reagan/Bush in 1980. In the 2012 Romney/Ryan ticket, we have Bush/Reagan. The question is, would 1980 have been such a landslide or a victory at all had Reagan been the VP candidate and George Bush at the top?
It’s a good choice. Take a recognized and loyal conservative as a VP. Hopefully, Ryan will become Romney’s Dick Cheney.
....but isn't that the normal habitat of 'rats? If he wasn't in the gutter, he'd be out of his element.
Now, with Paul Ryan, I have real hope that the rapid decline of this nation will at least be slowed long enough to build a bridge to the Ryan administration.
He is an amazing young man and if he manages to pull Romney over the finish line, Romney will know that he owes him big time. Unlike Sarah Palin, he has been in the political arena for far too long for the national media to definedistort him.
And Romney's McCain retread advisers are going to be unable to muzzle him. In fact, I wouldn't be too surprised to see one or more of this motley crew shown the door if they try.
“Think of Mitt as the moderate transition to a Ryan presidency.” I can live with that!
Interesting thought. I am hopefull that Ryan will push Romney (or at least keep him) toward the conservative side of right per his campaign promises.
Bath house Barry lives in the gutter.
If that doesn't resonate with the American people and wake them up, we just gotta' be truly done for. (But I think they' will wake up!)

It is a reasonable question and the chance of a 1980-like "landslide" victory seems lessened with Romney at the top.
However, IMHO, the 'anti-incumbent/we need a change' theme will rule the day this time again, regardless of who's on the top of the GOP ticket. If so, 2012 will repeat the 'throw the bum out' results of 1980, and 2008 (just in reverse).
