Joe Biden Race Baits in Virginia: Romney/Ryan Will Put Ya'll Back in Chains

During a campaign event earlier today in Danville, Virginia, Vice President Joe Biden told the crowd that a Romney/Ryan administration would put Americans "back in chains."

Joe Biden Race Baits in Virginia: Romney/Ryan Will Put Ya'll Back in Chains

The Romney campaign is again calling Biden's remarks a "new low."

“After weeks of slanderous and baseless accusations leveled against Governor Romney, the Obama Campaign has reached a new low.  The comments made by the Vice President of the United States are not acceptable in our political discourse and demonstrate yet again that the Obama Campaign will say and do anything to win this election.  President Obama should tell the American people whether he agrees with Joe Biden’s comments.”

Although Biden tried to cover his remarks under the guise of Wall Street, let's take a look at what he was really trying to do: stoke racial tension.

Danville, Virginia has an African-American population of 48.6 percent according the Census data. Overall, 19.8 percent of Virginians are African-American.

UPDATE: The Obama campaign is condoning Biden's comments. From Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter:

"I think he probably agrees with Joe Biden's sentiments," Cutter said on behalf of President Obama. "He's using a metaphor to talk about what's going to happen."

"I appreciate the faux outrage from the Romney campaign," Cutter said in reaction to a statement from the campaign. "If you want to talk about the use of words then take a look at Mitt Romney's stump speech where he basically calls the president un-American."

"The bottom line is that we have no problem with those comments," Cutter said.

Cutter (and MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell) tried to spin Biden's "chain" comments as a reference to Wall Street.

Strange the absolute projection from the Democrats... The only chains people are getting put in are the Chains of debt from all the spending on Entitlements.... The increases on welfare the Democrats failed unemployment stimulus spending, billions bailing out the UAW, Trillions in new Obamacare spending, Multi-Trillions in unfuded medicare and social security future payments... Every entitlement program was a ruse to empower government and control the people a ponzi scheme that everyone knew would fall like a house of cards one day and that day is soon upon us...

Cutter went on to say that Republican leaders commonly use a similar phrase when they refer to “removing the shackles from the economy”. Research found only one instance where the shackle phrase was used.

The unshackling comment, as used, did not refer to people, especially people of color as the Biden comment did.

Biden is going to be a gaffe a day. He’s getting worse as he gets older. Pretty soon, they’re just going to tell him to go to his room and stay and Obama will be the only one out on the stump. And if Obama doesn’t get his golf time and vacation time in, he gets very cranky.

The only appeal Biden has is to the socialist base.....swing voters are influenced little to none by this obviously in-need-of-meds VP.

He's preaching to the choir......

tell him to go to his room and stay

They already gave him an extra week's vacation, at home in Delaware.

But he escaped.

If Biden's DISGUSTING statement was *really* meant to be directed back to the banks, he would have said:

"The Republicans would put the chains *back* on WALL STREET," ...

*NOT* "ON Y'ALL."

Ugh. I don't think I said that right. Biden's talking about chaining and unchaining Wall Street, but then does the slight of hand onto *people* rather than how the DEMS would "rechain" Big Money.

He knew EXACTLY what Slight of Hand Scare Scene he was trying to Scam Up. I hate these disgusting sub-humans Biden and Obama. Spit.

Thanks, Kaslin!

Reminds one of Hillary lapsing into a dialect in order to time stamp her intended message.

However, if these sleaze balls want to use word imagery to convey powerful ideas, let's just give them something real to chew on!

How about the imagery of "chains" on power-hungry elected representatives of "the People" who ignore our written Constitution's "chains" on their power?

Now, it is the Obama-Biden team of "redistributionists" of other people's hard-earned dollars who have the audacity to accuse the other side of putting citizens in "chains."

The Obama-Biden philosophy is diametrically opposed to the view America's Founders expressed in the Declaration of Independence from just such a coercive government power. And the Founders' understanding of human nature and "the tendency to abuse power" guided their proceedings in framing a written Constitution to put "chains" on their representatives in government, including the President.

The wisdom of the Founders, as expressed in the Constitution for self-government they devised and implemented, was their understanding of human nature and their recognition that some imperfect persons, elected or appointed to positions of power over other imperfect persons' lives, would not somehow make better decisions than those persons would make for themselves.

The Far Left in 21st Century America, with all the centuries of recorded history available to them, and with all available psychological studies of human behavior, nevertheless, operate with this "fantastical" theory that the opposite is true.

Is it deliberate, or is it total ignorance and lack of the gift of reason?

See Dr. George Carey's essay on the "Founding Fathers' Views of Human Nature" here

". . . it would be a dangerous delusion were a confidence in the men of our choice to silence our fears for the safety for our rights. . . it is jealousy and not confidence which prescribes limited Constitutions to bind down those whom we are obliged to trust with power: that our Constitution has accordingly fixed the limits to which and no further our confidence may go. . . . In questions of power then let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."- Thomas Jefferson

And, here excerpted words from President Andrew Jackson's Proclamation of December 10, 1832:

"We have received it [the Constitution] as the work of the assembled wisdom of the nation. We have trusted to it as to the sheet anchor of our safety in the stormy times of conflict with a foreign or domestic foe. We have looked to it with sacred awe as the palladium of our liberties, and with all the solemnities of religion have pledged to each other our lives and fortunes here and our hopes of happiness hereafter in its defense and support. Were we mistaken, my countrymen, in attaching this importance to the Constitution . . .? No. We were not mistaken. The letter of this great instrument is free from this radical fault. . . . No, we did not err! . . . The sages . . . have given us a practical and, as they hoped, a permanent* Constitutional compact. . . . The Constitution is still the object of our reverence, the bond of our Union, our defense in danger, the source of our prosperity in peace: it shall descend, as we have received it, uncorrupted by sophistical construction, to our posterity. . . ."

*Underlining added for emphasis

And, it was Thomas Jefferson who used another metaphor with reference to the Constitution when he indicated that "the People" must "bind them (government) by the chains of the Constitution." In another instance, he declared: "It was intended to lace them up straitly within the enumerated powers. . . ."

It is time that "We, the People," who are, according to Justice Story, "the only KEEPERS of the Constitution," convey Jefferson's message to Biden and Obama.
