DULUTH, Minn. - Authorities are looking into an incident at an interstate rest stop in Duluth that involves a state representative.

State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says a witness approached a trooper at Thompson Hill rest area off Interstate 35 about 11 p.m. on July 22 and told the officer about some "suspicious activity." Roeske says the trooper had contact with Rep. Kerry Gauthier and turned the matter over to Duluth police because it was a "non-traffic" incident.

Duluth police said in a statement the incident is still being actively investigated and released no further details. Gauthier, a Democrat, did not immediately return a call from The Associated Press seeking comment. ..

What happened, did he fail to rest as required by state laws?

Unlikely. But, here's a hint: Google "Thompson Hill" AND "cruising", and look at the first 2 hits.

I'd advise against clicking the links, though.

Out here, just south of San Francisco, (Sodom by the Sea), the I-280 rest stops are used by motorists for rear-enders.

Sex with a 17 year old male, although the article says the age of consent is 16. But he's a Democrat, so it's alright.

Kerry Gauthier

And, apparently, an openly homosexual one, at that.

Shocking. Simply shocking. < /s >

Took them just under 100 words to mention he was D.

Guess it is an improvement though, considering MN etc.

If it were an R or even an R that served 20 years ago, we would have known that in the first sentence, if not the headline.

Guess ‘they’ are to dumb to figure out that omission, as in race, just points the finger at the one they were trying to cover for.

56-year-old, first-term DFL rep. He’s facing a Republican named Travis Silvers this November.

They mentioned he was a donk in the third paragraph. Surprisingly early for an LSM article.

PS If he was a Republican, it would have been in the title...

First word of the title. And I'll go out on a limb and guess that the name of a certain VP candidate would have been worked into the title as well.

If Silvers beats him, it will be a miracle. Gauthier beat him by a 67-22% margin in 2010. Dems do love their perverts.

It is sad to see how far my hometown has sunk. It has truly become the other city by the Bay. Gay Bay 2 is what I refer to it these days.

I left when I was 16 to join the Thomas Shows Carnivla. traveled around Canada and the US for 6 Months, before I turned 17 to join the the service in “73”. Been awhile since i was last there. I still have family up the hill in Cloquet that I have visited a few times, but never could live there again.

Beautiful place in the Summer, if you can deal with the mosquitoes, also known as the state bird. The Winters suck. I remember shoveling snow off the runway lights at the airport one winter as a teen. The airport is atop the hill, and that day the wind chill was 80 degrees below. An airplane had to make an emergency landing in mid-January, and I was paid a good penny to bare the elements.

Many good memories I could share about my wonder years growing up there. Once I left though, I had no desire to return as an adult, other than to visit relatives for a spell or two.
