Pending other possible federal charges, the U.S. Attorney for D.C. announced this morning that Family Research Council shooting suspect Floyd Lee Corkins II will be arraigned this afternoon on charges of illegally bringing a weapon across state lines and assault with intent to kill:
"The defendant was charged with the federal offense of interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition, along with the District of Columbia offense of assault with intent to kill while armed. The offenses carry the following maximum penalties: 10 years imprisonment on the federal offense and 30 years imprisonment on the District of Columbia offense. The District of Columbia offense also carries a mandatory-minimum term of five years imprisonment."
Police are still looking into what motivated the shooting, an investigation that could result in additional charges of domestic terrorism or hate crimes. In related news, the Washington Times' Andrea Noble reports that Corkins was found with 50 rounds of ammunition and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches.
The Family Research Council has defended the restaurant, which donates money to conservative organizations that advocate against same-sex marriage.
Maybe he was going to hand those sandwiches out to the people working at the FRC. Better check to see what's in those sandwiches.......
Any guesses as to why? I'm totally baffled./s
An agent of the Bovine Liberation Front, obviously.
Well in a serious vein, I was appalled (but I guess not too surprised , really) to see that many major LGBT sites are bashing NOM’s Brian Brown for daring to make this into “a political event”. See, when the shoe is on the other foot, libs just say this was “one lone madman, had nothing to do with politics”. Riiiight.
Sounds a lot like the McDonald’s murder blog, mcmurder.com
“ASSAULT???”
Why not attempted murder!? Terrorist attack? Hate crime??
ASSAULT?!
slings...I am pinging you out on this one...
He had 15 chick fil a sandwiches? What was he gonna do, launch them from a catapult?
Well, he sure did patronize Chick-Fil-A.
I bet he was going to bring them all “lunch” and then open fire. How ghastly. (Maybe LGBTs are going to say he was in with the CFA crowd, “just look at all the business he gave them” -riight)
Hasn’t been charged as a terrorist attempt yet, I believe, only assault with intent to kill.
And a sentence of five years max, if even?
The worst of it is the LGBTs are complaining their heads off that “the right is attempting to politicize this tragedy” - sickening hypocrisy!
I would say that the guys was simply a loon, who wasn’t going to make a lick of sense in what he did, plenty of disturbed people do things like hoard crap before they do something awful.
.... Had he actually launched one of those deadly Sandwiches (Considered to be WMD by liberals) I am sure he would have been charged with the full Attempted Murder.
I think he was going to serve them their last “lunch” at FRC. :-(
Dick Durbin to introduce legislation limiting the number of Chick-Fil-A sandwiches an individual can possess at one time...
Hmmm, I agree - our press - the 'true champions of tolerance' as you call them - would never stoop to such a level. The lack of press coverage is a mystery. Maybe the New York Times has assigned a thumb sucker to this one because it's so important...
Ha, no doubt! When you think about it - It is just crazy, though, all those chicken sandwiches with an attack on FRC - you can’t make this sh*t up :-)
LMAO
