Civil rights group bristles at shooting criticism

WASHINGTON — A man who volunteered at a gay community center had a backpack full of Chick-fil-A sandwiches and a box of ammunition when he said "I don't like your politics" and shot a security guard at the headquarters of a conservative lobbying group, authorities revealed Thursday.

Floyd Lee Corkins, II, was ordered held without bond on charges that he opened fire a day earlier inside the lobby of the Family Research Council, an influential conservative Christian group that has supported the president of the fast-food chain his staunch opposition to same-sex marriage.

Though the shooting was swiftly condemned by groups across the ideological spectrum, it tapped into deep divisions over cultural issues like gay marriage and drew finger-pointing about whether inflamed rhetoric on either side was to blame.

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said "reckless rhetoric" from organizations that disagree with his group's opposition to abortion and same-sex marriage was to blame for the shooting.

"Corkins was given a license to shoot an unarmed man by organizations like the Southern Poverty Law Center that have been reckless in labeling organization hate groups because they disagree with them on public policy," Perkins said.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, an Alabama-based civil rights organization that tracks and litigates hate groups, labeled the FRC as a hate group in 2010 for what it called the group's anti-gay stance.

Mark Potok, a senior fellow at the SPLC, called Perkins' accusation "outrageous." He said the council was labeled for spreading false propaganda about LGBT people, not for its opposition to same-sex marriage.

Mr. Potok, in the words of a Jewish-born folk singer from the 60's who sings through his nose, HOW DOES IT FEEL? There is nothing more bitter than the taste of one's own words. Perhaps the SPLC and the LGBT groups should hold a huge GAYla in southern Croatia where they can "Crimea" River. Are you hypocrites still gonna call the "TEA baggers" a bunch of racist homophobic haters?

“If you disagree with us you’re a hate group” isn’t so different from the muzzies saying “if you call us violent we will kill you”.

Excellent analogy.

The DNC is a hate group. The SPLC is a hate group. Damn, this is easy, labeling an entity a hate group! Go ahead; give it a try. All sports fans who don’t like me teams are a hate group! My parents made me do chores when I was younger, and I didn’t like it, so, my parents were a hate group! Hate is everywhere! I love it! I love haters, too.

The irony is almost too much to believe.

The Southern Poverty Law Center was supposedly established to help blacks. Yet, blacks are most likely to be against gay marriage. So if the SPLC was honest, it would have to name black people members of a hate group.

We all know that ain’t going to happen.

The Socialist Political Lynching Center strikes again.

Emmett Till would be safer at a KKK meeting than a pro family Christian would be at the SPLC.

Potok is a pandering Sissy Boy. To call the SPLC a “civil rights” group is an even bigger joke

The Southern Poverty Law Center was supposedly established to help blacks.

The SPLC was once a genuine civil rights organization, but just like the ADL and the NAACP it was hijacked by leftists, and like the other two is nothing more than a political extension of the DNC, used to defame and label political opponents, run by hard core leftists.

The DNC is a hate group. The SPLC is a hate group

More accurately, the SPLC is, first and foremost, a fund-raising group -- that traffics in hate.

Morris Dees sells hate by the carload.

It was originally called Klanwatch and was founded by avowed Communist agitator and malcontent Morris Dees.

It was NEVER a legitimate anything but a shakedown arm for liberal to assuage their white liberal guilt.

I’m not sure how much of a civil rights organization the SPLC started out to be. One of its founders, Morris Dees, has some very serious issues. He is definitely a real piece of work and his form of sadistic play may have spilled over into his work. But at least it appeared to be a civil rights organization at its start. Now the entire organization seems to be as flawed as Mr. Dees.

Basically, doing your job like baking bread and being a family person is being part of a hate group these days.

He said the council was labeled for spreading false propaganda about LGBT people, not for its opposition to same-sex marriage.

"False propaganda"? Examples would be of use to defend that charge.

There is little that can be said about members of the homosexual community that cannot be illustrated by the examples of at least a few perverted members of that community.

"The FRC routinely pushes out demonizing claims that gay people are child molesters and worse — claims that are provably false," he said in a statement. "It should stop the demonization and affirm the dignity of all people."

Some homosexuals are child molesters. Some are even "respected" members of academia and given a pass when their activities are uncovered.

Then there are perverts like the Safe Schools Czar who pushes a book about "first awakenings" by homosexuals telling tales of seduction as minors by adult members of the same sex. Then there is the agenda to push the introduction of alternative lifestyles on kindergarten students and to teach fifth graders about oral and anal sex.

Morris Dees: King of the Hate Business

http://www.counterpunch.org/2009/05/15/king-of-the-hate-business/

What is the arch-salesman of hate-mongering, Mr. Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center doing now? He’s saying that the election of a black president proves his point. Hate is on the rise! Send money!

Without skipping a beat, the mailshot moguls, who year after year make money selling the notion there’s been a right resurgence out there in the hinterland with massed legions of haters, have used the election of a black president to say that, yes, hate is on the rise and America ready to burst apart at the seams, with millions of extremists primed to march down Main Street draped in Klan robes, a copy of Mein Kampf tucked under one arm and a Bible under the other, available for sneak photographs from minions of Chip Berlet, another salesman of the Christian menace, ripely endowed with millions to battle the legions of the cross.

Ever since 1971 US Postal Service mailbags have bulged with Dees’ fundraising letters, scaring dollars out of the pockets of trembling liberals aghast at his lurid depictions of hate-sodden America, in dire need of legal confrontation by the SPLC. Nine years ago Ken Silverstein wrote a devastating commentary on Dees and the SPLC in Harpers, dissecting a typical swatch of Dees’ solicitations. At that time, as Silverstein pointed out, the SPLC was “the wealthiest civil rights group in America,” with $120 million in assets.

As of October 2008 the net assets of the SPLC were $170,240,129, The merchant of hate himself, Mr. Dees, was paid an annual $273,132 as chief trial counsel, and the SPLC’s president and CEO, Richard Cohen, $290,193. Total revenue in 2007 was $44,727,257 and program expenses $20,804,536. In other words, the Southern Poverty Law Center was raising twice as much as it was spending on its proclaimed mission. Fund-raising and administrative expenses accounted for $9 million, leaving $14 million to be put in the center’s vast asset portfolio.

FBI Memo: Southern Poverty Law Center, FBI Linked To Oklahoma City Bombing (helped run Elohim City)

http://www.wnd.com/2004/01/22643/

A recently declassified FBI memo obtained by an Oklahoma newspaper contains several revelations concerning the Oklahoma City bombing investigation that could give attorneys for co-conspirator Terry Nichols ammunition to argue in his next trial in March that there were more than just two people involved in the crime.

The memo, transmitted electronically, was sent to the OKBOMB investigation task force and a select group of FBI offices around the nation eight months after the devastating 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, reports the McCurtain Daily Gazette.

One of the revelations was the involvement of civil-rights attorney Morris Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center in an informant operation. According to the memo, the SPLC was involved in monitoring subjects for the FBI believed to be linked to now-executed bomber Timothy McVeigh, the neo-Nazi compound at Elohim City and the mysterious German national Andreas Carl Strassmeir.

The Daily Gazette says the memo, dated Jan. 4, 1996, was heavily redacted. It mentions individuals the FBI believed were involved in two cases – OKBOMB, the probe of the OKC bombing, and BOMBROB, which involved a wide-ranging search for a group of neo-Nazi bank robbers in the mid-1990s.

Six people eventually were arrested in connecting with the BOMBROB investigation, the paper reported, all of whom had ties to Elohim City

Dees is SCUM, ditto the SPLC racket he cooked up.
