A couple of years after the election of The One, the SPLC was contracted by the government to identify and track “hate groups.”

I tried to find that; all I get is redirects to Lew Rockwell.

I’ll have to look for something. I first read about this at the time of the Sikh temple shooting, when it emerged that the skinhead band the shooter belonged to had been identified as a “hate group” by the SPLC, which was consulted for a statement on it because they are apparently responsible for identifying and labeling these groups. At that time, I read that about two years ago, they had actually been contracted for this purpose by the government (by Holder’s Justice Department, naturally).

So I’ll have to dig around and see if I can find confirmation of that anywhere.
