Drill Sergeant - An Army Sergeant that 'mentors' young soldiers to be "All that they can be", to be "An Army of One", and to be "Army Strong", and when necessary to provide a shoulder to cry on when the young soldier possesses a "Stress Card".
Drill Instructor - A Marine that transforms young men and women into Marines.
Do I need to say more?

You obviously never met SGT Donald King nor SSG Freuhauf.I had the misfortune to have met both of them at Ft Knox,KY in 1969.I assure you that neither of them ever offered their shoulder to any recruits that *I* know of nor did they ever acknowledge the validity of any "stress card".And I'll wager that neither of them could even *spell* the word "mentor".

I went through BCT/AIT at Ft. Benning as a Cav Scout about a year ago. We didn’t have any stress cards or anything like that.
