There are issues to be reasonable over, and there are some that are not.

You are wrong, if the only tool you have is a hammer the whole world looks like a nail. There are a number of alternatives that have not been tried much less played out.

This is one that is not. There is no rational way in which the actions of those at this school site can be explained away without including incompetence in that explanation.

Think it through. Seriously. Find your critical thinking cap and put it on for just a minute.

I believe that you are the one that needs to think it through. When both parties are screaming, shaking sticks and throwing rocks, NOTHING is accomplished except providing entertainment for the audience. Instead if you follow the teachings of Sun Tzu (The Art of War):

1) Study your enemy.

2) Learn their weaknesses and strategies.

3) Marshall your forces and supplies.

4) Make sure that you can achieve victory.

5) Approach your enemy to see if a peaceful settlement can be achieved FROM A POSITION OF STRENGTH.

***If the enemy rebuffs your offer, then an only then go to step 6****

6) Attack your enemy using the appropriate tactics.

A pre schooler with the name of Hunter is being told he needs to change his name, from an accepted sign language hand sign for the word Hunter, because of a zero tolerance policy on guns? There is no possible excuse for such obtuseness. None what so ever. The event is nothing more than a bright and blatant demonstration of idiocy and incompetence. You’d have an easier time trying to convince me that it’s healthy to subsist on a diet of dog turds than you would have trying to play the event as having any possible competent function, or of trying to persuade that those involved in this decision are employed far far above their ability to deal with reality.

Your answer appears to be to react with the same level of obtuseness being just as idiotic and incompetent.

These parents are doing the right thing. They have brought it to the attention of the Media, it is one of the cover stories on fox.com. Quite a few folks on this thread alone have contacted the school district, principal etc. If satisfaction is not given I am certain that people will stage peaceful protests and get the deaf community involved getting the school even more negative publicity. Soon other parents will pull their children out costing the district money. At this point I am certain that the parents will have been contacted by a dozen or so "Top Gun" lawyers willing to take this case on Pro Bono just to get some positive publicity. The mere threat of a lawsuit will garner more negative press and cause more parents to pull their children out.

I am not saying that the administrators their are competent, I am saying that their needs to be at least one adult in the room, and I would prefer that it is me.

Never use an atom bomb when Napalm will do. Never use Napalm when a gun will do, Never use a gun when a knife will do. Never use a knife when a simple word will do, but have all of them available.

I was raised by teachers (both parents) and am fully and well acquainted with the kind of numbnut that ends up as site admin.

I’ve seen this issue as it started and it’s grown like a nasty fungus.

There is nothing in this issue that isn’t a direct indictment against that school site’s administrative leadership.

There is a huge difference between education and indoctrination. That distinction is becoming lost in an ever spreading pattern in our education system.

On this issue, you are wrong. The blatant indicator that this issue brings to light demonstrates nothing but site leadership that has lost its ability to deal with the real world outside closed ecology of the school system.

We each occupy a trench of opposite sides of this battlefield. You will not convince me and I have no desire to continue wasting my time trying to convince you.
